Guess what I just watched!

Not that this is news at this point but I've never seen such a waste of potential.


While it's not the worst thing I've watched, I definitely didn't like it. I won't be watching it again anytime soon, or ever again. I guess the only thing going for it is that it all does make sense but it didn't need to be so drawn out.

I'm also disappointed because this means there probably won't be a season three. (Although I'm not sure I'd want them to do a season three after seeing what happened with season two.)

I can understand how terrible that must have been. The only reason I watched it recently to begin with is because I like to experience things first hand. So what if person A has opinion A about a topic? Who says he is right??

What do you mean? Are you saying that they wouldn't do a season 3 because of how they handled season 2? I'd say not necessarily. Look at how they handled the movie. That was pretty entertaining and wasn't repetitive like endless eight. Its true that it has been 5 years since the second season aired and there hasn't been any mention for a season 3. While I wouldn't hold my breath on it, I don't think season 3 can be ruled out either. The material to work with is obviously there. Perhaps it is just being saved for a stormy day.

There some moments where I think having a constant running gag go through one episode (much to the increasing charging of another character - and with different scenarios) than having episodes look almost the same. This is one of those.

Might as well post more ramblings here. I watched more of the Higurashi series recently (and by recently, I mean like back in January). This is what I specifically watched:
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kira
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku: Outbreak

Considering that the main story of the series was already done and resolved in the first two seasons, I wasn't necessarily expecting something amazing with these. I was somewhat justified with that assumption.

Rei is composed of 5 episodes. The meat and bulk of its story lies in episodes 2 through 4. The idea behind those 3 episodes was actually interesting and has somewhat of a feeling that the first two seasons do. If I were to describe episode 1 in only two words, those words would be “fucking stupid”. My problem is that it was just beyond stupid and fanservicey. It adds nothing to the story of episodes 2 through 4. Episode 5 also suffers this same problem but to a lesser degree.

Kira is composed of 4 episodes. Oh man though... what the hell do I say about Kira? Basically Kira takes all the stupidity and fanservice crap from episode 1 of Rei and turns it into 4 episodes. I read reviews and saw rating for Kira so I guess I should have known better. I'm just the type of person who likes to see how good (or in this case bad) something can be first hand. I could honestly only get through 2 of the 4 episodes which says a lot. I can't judge the last two episodes since I just couldn't get past episode 2. The only reason you would watch this in my mind is if you wanted a cheap thrill since it feels way too far removed from the traditional atmosphere of Higurashi.

Outbreak is one movie. In a sense, it feels like another arc from the first two seasons, even more so than Rei, where it starts out kinda cutesy and things turn dark. That might be a good or bad thing depending on your point of view but I certainly enjoyed it.

If I were to recommend someone what to watch of the three, I would suggest Outbreak and then Rei. I'm not sure I could recommend Kira. I'd only recommend it if you want a Higurashi that feels nothing like Higurashi and is a cheap thrill.

I hear you. Depending on what you have watched and how much you have watched, series you haven't seen before can be stale right out of the box because they are either too predictable or you have seen similar stories before.

The last thing I actually sat down to watch was Hanasaku Iroha. My recollection says that it was pretty good. But ya, I watched it in June of last year. Nothing has caught my attention enough for me to sit down and watch another series in that span of time.

So I finally watched Little Witch Academia and its sequel today. Both are on Netflix now.

Very good animation and very charming. I hope there's a series made out of it down the line...I dunno where the plot could go but it's cool how they established a connection to the "outside world" in the sequel.

This thread is growing cobwebs and for some insane reason I have nobody to talk about this show with so I'm going to implore everyone to watch Mob Psycho 100

I'm lazy so here's the synopsis from Wikipedia
Shigeo Kageyama is an average middle school boy, called Mob (モブ means background character) for lacking a sense of presence. Although he seems like an inconspicuous person, he is in fact a powerful Esper. As he grows older, Mob realizes his psychic powers are dangerous. To avoid his power getting out of control, he constantly lives a life under emotional shackle. Mob wants to live just like others, but a barrage of trouble comes to him. With the suppressed emotions growing inside Mob little by little, his power threatens to spill over its bounds.


I think the season is only 12 episodes total (11 aired so far) but they all bounce between being funny and touching and gripping and it's all intensely animated and super good. Plus it's created by the same guy as One Punch Man so you know it's

I'm also currently watching Psycho-Pass and, of course, Diamond is Unbreakable (it's gureato)

If people posted in here more often so would I, Mob Psycho seems alright but I'm not loving it like a lot of other people are. Problem is though despite being an anime addict I still seem to be completely oblivious to anything just released, I also need to start watching the JoJo series like people keep telling me to.
