Inspired by 2Tie's AMA thread. Answer the question in the above post, then ask a question for the person after you.

#1: What was the first internet forum you were an active member of?

The earliest I can remember is rebelscum.com (I think? It's hard to tell which collector forum I'm thinking of as they've shifted their visuals over the years...I could've sworn it was a .net) as a kid and I shudder to look back at my old posts there. I was also really active on the Black Mesa: Source forums around the same time, eventually getting rightfully banned for being really annoying. I remember popping into a clearly marked thread for high res images and starting a long fight about how it's not okay for them to tank my internet like that. Christ.

#2: What was your first console or the first PC you played games on?

It must've been the SNES. I had a neighbor who had one and we'd play A Link to the Past. Absolutely blew my mind and I bugged my parents for a console for ages until finally getting one. Ended up being an N64, played hella Mario 64. Good times. Then Ocarina of Time came out...

#3: If you could will it into existence, what game or series would you have remastered (or revived with a sequel)?

uratoh -- Donkey Kong Country. Though my second pick would be Super Mario RPG.

Bill Cipher fan -- Probably wouldn't participate much, not really one of my interests.

Nevermind the correct way, how do you pronounce "GIF"?

Hard g, although I hold no ill will towards people who say a [dΚ’].

My Q: When's the last time you actually downloaded a website or a youtube video? What motivated you?

Answer: Bon Jovi.

Question: How do you feel about Kirby games that don't have an Arena?

Kirby is an extremely good friend and wonderful and i adore Kirby games and probably have put more thought and my soul into them than most anything else. i love Kirby as a series from a perspective of analytical game design and also from the heart as a fan to whom they speak meaningfully to, and i always have an inmense amount of things to say about every single element of it. i once planned on writing an entire dissertation on every single aspect of Kirby's adventure, from everything that makes it a game to it's spirit as a lovely form of art. it always brightens me and gives me so much inspiration and things to think of. Ultimately Kirby is, fundamentally, and in the manner a game character and series can most possible be, a friend.
with this in mind, the rare games that don't have a n arena tend to be unusual experimental side games, conveying very particular feelings. i appreciate them a lot, even if i prefer the mainline games, but i have to give mention to Canvas Curse, it is a very deliberate game that really resonated with me. i like it a lot and is one of my favorites.
still, i feel the arena adds a lot to Kirby games, but i can see it's absence being appropriate in these cases

what is an aesthetic you like? can be some readily described idea, or just a bunch of imagery you like together.

y2k aesthetic comes to mind, or the power mac g4 aesthetic where everything was smooth without being overly slick and glossy

what's the newest game you bought?

I guess technically SimCity 2000 -- I didn't buy it for it, but the disc came free with my PowerBook G3.

CDs actually kinda suck for data, don't they?

I guess since the last reply didn't have a question, I get to ask anything I want!

I have no way to prove this, but back in the Super NES days I accidentally discovered the Ghost Save feature in Super Mario Kart. I figured that this would be a great way to get my name printed in Nintendo Power's Classified Information feature because I hadn't seen it anywhere (and I had a subscription to both Nintendo Power and EGM). I wrote it up and sent it in and... nothing. To my knowledge they never printed anything about that feature/trick anywhere in any format.

My question is: are there any video game secrets you have discovered just by playing around with the game and not by finding it in a book, magazine, web site, video, disassembling a ROM, etc.?

the last reply did have a question, it was whether you agreed that cds are not actually good for data storage.

that's something i agree with. not only their storage life is running out and are they long inconvenient for anything, one detail that i always had been bothered with was protecting the data layer on top with barely more than a thin coat of paint and little more

as for videogame secrets; i have always been a person who downplays her knowledge and insight immensely yet also looks very in-depth at relatively niche things, so it's been extremely frequent for a lot of things that i pressumed to be common widespread knowledge get "reported as discovered" and things like that, which is a reminder to me that slightly bothers me of how people take credit of things that less vocal communities already knew long ago.
a clear example that keeps happening is how whenever i'd mention the 30 lives easter egg in kirby games people often respond with "the what", and likewise i found how to glitch into the hal room by myself, and tend to challenge myself to find them on my own (which i have). i tend to dislike guides in general.
very recently i showed my girlfriend a little trick in doki doki panic where you can push a key with your head.

question: what is a playing cards game that you like? that is, especifically not a trading card game, but it can be a card game constructed with its own cards.

I like Skip.Bo, Rummy, Uno, Angry Birds... i don't know if that's considered a card game though.

Have you ever heard of ''Yaridovich''?

i replayed super mario rpg recently actually, and that's one of the highlight bosses of the game for me

the unique sunset background, and the tension of yaridovich being the nastier character you face at that point in the story while having johnathan jones showing up to help you out, and the fairly intimidating design itself makes fighting him one of the most stand out moments of the game

but, who is the real mc coy, anyways? you?

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
