Do you use any custom blocklists on your adblocker? On uBlock Origin I enable the Fanboy's Annoyance and Fanboy's Social lists that are included by default but not enabled, as well as Wikia: Pure Browsing Experience to clean up the hellish wikia / fandom pages.

I actually have far more filters enabled than I expected. I honestly don't remember which ones are default and which one's aren't, but these are the filters I have up:


  • uBlock filters
  • uBlock filters - Badware risks
  • uBlock filters - Privacy
  • uBlock filters - Resource abuse
  • uBlock filters - Unbreak
  • EasyList
  • EasyPrivacy
  • Online Malicious URL blocklist
  • EasyList Cookie
  • Peter Lowe's Ad and tracking server list
  • CZE, SVK: EasyList Czech and Slovak
  • EST: Eesti saitidele kohandatud filter


The last two are because I sometimes visit pages from these regions, but yeah, I actually don't have any of Fanboy's then! I don't tend to see ads though, so whatever I'm doing here has got to be working pretty well.

EDIT: Oh and I appreciate that wikia clensing blocklist a lot!!

I know there are adblockers with PPC support, I have uBlock (and a whole host of other privacy addons recommended to me by Mozilla) on my iBook G3, but I can't find working ones anymore, I guess Mozilla doesn't like my browser which is still TenFourFox, just renamed. So I guess the answer is I really need to update my hosts file.

I've pretty much got it all checked outside of ignoring cosmetic filters and region/language options or anything custom. I do think I did something custom at a point but it really wasn't needed. Even got AdGuard's stuff in uO as well as I use that on my phone.

Just replaced the nearly year old MVPS hosts file with a new SBUHF. Hopefully it helps keep browsing on this thing a smooth experience. I'm really glad z970 went out of his way to include even that year old hosts file, because it goes a long way.
