Originally posted by Xkeeper that's a good point actually. i guess the current configuration is fine as it is. i guess the same applies for SMWCentral on which the community has changed like twice since 2015 and yet it still has posts dating back to 2007. still weird to think that it's possible to bump a 10+ year old thread. guess it makes it even more important to pay attention to the date of each post before reading it |
I guess I'll post my history with Acmlm, too. I was there, I saw it all.
I just never joined. I think I first became aware of it some time in 2003 maybe as early as 2002, thanks to Kiwibonga's clone board. A bunch of cool people from acmlm showed up there (but I think they all grew out of forums) before the board imploded in 2004 from poor programming (These are kiwi's words--at the time, and even still today I'm impressed that it managed to work at all!)
I always thought I wasn't cool enough for the big-boy ROM hacking board. I went there and saw all these cool projects, and neat layouts, and thought, "jeez, they'll think I'm such a l4m3r." (remember that this was the era when we still thought l33t was cool) (because it was) (and still is).
Anyway, I always thought the acmlm-style board was the coolest, but after acmlm kind of disappeared and I didn't really know anybody well enough to get invited to the various communities that developed afterward, I thought the whole scene was just done. It was really cool for me to find Vizzed and say, "Hey cool, I remember this." And from there finding the quiet and laid back Jul.
Well, see you in a month to reminisce about stuff nobody else remembers!
