I've been playing Cooking Simulator & Thief Simulator on my Nintendo Switch, I bought 'em cause they were on sale for $1.99 USD each, but these games are really fun. I have a whole buncha simulator games on my Steam Wishlist that I wanna get into, here's the list so far...

Does darkest dungeon count? It's a pretty good capitalism simulator in regards to what the ideal way to progress in the game.(Bring in a bunch of under-qualified people to make you profits and then throw them out when they break.) <.<

As for actual simulation games....

I haven't really played any that goes all in? I have played stuff like Spore and The Sims ages ago, but while they are "simulations" of things, they are not really in the same league as more hard core simulations that go all in on replicating how something in real life works.

I did play close down the Madagascar boarder simulator back in the days of flash. And more recently I played the spiritual successor, Plague Inc, which is also pretty good, I like it. But it's hard to keep interest in that title for super long/many runs, it also feels maybe a bit more luck driven than what I would have liked. :p

I played a lot of Microsoft Train Simulator as a kid, it's still pretty decent if you're into that kind of thing, with a ton of mods available. I've been playing SimCity 4 for a few years now and even started getting into modding it myself, not my first game mod but the first mod I finished, but I like it even more than SimCity 2000, which was one of my favorite games as a kid. Besides that, probably the original Sims game.

Transport Tycoon was the first simulator game I ever played, and I can still pick it up and enjoy it to this day. The only other simulator I ever enjoyed as much was Roller Coaster Tycoon. Cities Skylines was also great on my first city, but I often find myself frustrated that I can't make, for example, a rail oriented city.

Sim City 2000 is a personal favourite of mine, I still play it on and off, I've owned it since it was released in the 90s. It's not toooo complex but just fun enough to just build cities with.

Railroad Tycoon 3 is my absolute favorite, though I've been meaning to buy either Railroad Corporation or Railway Empire to try them out (dunno which one is closer to what I enjoyed about RT3).

I also really enjoy 電車でGO! (Densha de GO!) even though that's more arcade-like than most simulator games, unless you pick Densha de GO! FINAL. I guess there's a new one being released to the Switch now too.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 1/2 was part of my childhood, SimCity 3000 and SimCity 4 too.

Cities: Skylines. It's Sim City But Better. Including a huge modding community (built-in mod support!) so you can make it work exactly how you want.

Only downside is it's an absolute pig. You really need more than 16GB RAM, a decent GPU and a very fast CPU to get any bearable performance in a large city. (it's not really threaded either, so having more CPU cores doesn't help.)

OpenRCT2 just released a beta that removes/hugely increases a lot of the limits. 65000 guests on a 999x999 map. Makes me think I should play it sometime.

How has nobody mentioned House Flipper yet? That is a top tier game for just chilling out and completing tasks! And uh... obviously the more freeform half of the game is worth noting as well.

Vaea's creativity is limited, but it can definitely manage to muster some up if it tries. Either way, House Flipper has plenty to offer.

choose their hours and what to pay them, the products you sell, the store logo, advertising, etc and just run everything.

I used to work retail so I have NO idea how its fun but like it legitimately is lol.

Tycoon games in general are an absolute anomaly, honestly. They're so fun, despite just straight up being capitalism simulators. Although, it is quite telling that most tycoon games are also god games.

Let's have a good time together!

After Rollercoaster Tycoon got me hooked on the genre, I never really graduated after Sid Meyer's Locomotion, as my PC was the same for all those games until 2007.

But Transport Fever 2 is my current simulator buddy, together with it's prequel Train Fever, I spent lot's of hours in it. Not even close in Cities Skylines. Somehow, I don't want to build a city. But it's transport infrastructure.

I haven't played many sim games, either; my favorites are still RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 and SimCity 3000.

I regret that I seem to have been forcibly divested of the patience to play a Real Video Game for more than five minutes, however; whenever I open Parkitect or PlanCo, I rarely get more than one ride constructed before getting bored and quitting.
