Removed a bunch of references to $x_hacks['host'] ... this was used before when the same code was being used for two different forums, but since that's not the case (and hasn't been for probably a decade at this point) there's no reason to leave it in.

I also changed a few things here and there that hopefully didn't break things like registration, but it's hard to tell considering nobody really registers here any more.

Oh, there's also a constant IT_IS_CHRISTMAS which toggles on the Christmas theme and name color cycling, so it can live in the config file instead of being a manual change in lib/colors.php.

Added a "recently active threads" list on the front page which shows the 5 most recently posted in threads.

Unlike the latest posts page, this is based off of threads, not individual posts, so it should always show 5 unique threads.

Of course, if nobody posts for a long time, it won't be very "recent" — there's no check on the time, so if only one thread is active for a month then there will be 4 stale threads in the list.


...but if that happens, you should post (in) new threads.

updated the registration form, not that most of you have a need for it:

- Now allows resubmitting the form if you goof

- Shows errors in a more useful format

- Accepts an email address (and validates it)


more or less rewrote the entire thing and even then I'm sure it could be improved, it's been years since I've delved into most of it
