So I got a Mi Band 3. I got it because I wanted something to track my activity (steps, heart rate, sleep) because I'm a data nerd. There's already a Mi Band 5, but I wanted the older model because it's cheap (I don't know if I'm going to be wearing it) and old (tried & tested).
I get Telegram notifications on it, which is pretty neat. ![]() I connected it to a FLOSS app called Gadgetbridge, which lets me upload custom firmware on it (!!) as well as get data. So I have this neat activity and heart rate graph for example: ![]() What are YOUR experiences with smartwatches?! ____________________

I guess. I mean, the whole point of smartphones was that we didn't have to carry all these separate devices around, and so far, all smartwatches that I know about only work with a phone, or are offline without it anyway. Even the ones that have their own 4G antennas still seem to require a phone to be the master.
If I could get a smartwatch that would just be the only devices I needed, then maybe. Just maybe. Of course, I suppose then I'd need a bluetooth keyboard to type on, and not having headphones would be a no go... and, and and...
