If you go to edit your profile, second from the very bottom you should see "Signature separator", the fourth option of which is "None".
Do you have that selected?

you could do something hacky to hide your sig separator, eg. copy and paste <div style='display:none'> into every post and put another </div> at the beginning of your signature. but that'd be pretty tedious, i guess...

in general i agree with this suggestion, but also in general so few people here seem to use "proper" signatures that i just keep em off anyways. i think signature separators should be per-layout rather than global-per-user, personally, since different signature types work best with different layouts. but that is just my opinion
