i generally use vs code any more. i use metapad in very limited circumstances

nano is still the one i use for terminals

Usually whatever editor is bundled in. Right now, I'm usually using Pe, with StyledEdit for notes and clipboard dumping and stuff. Tried getting into Paladin, but it's... just really different from what I'm used to. If you include word processors, I really like FocusWriter.

i love Notepad++ but for some reason i just got really into Wordpad for taking notes as of today. we'll see whether it sticks.

in Linux, idk it's been too long. but mostly gedit, mousepad and nano.

When I have to administer someone else's server, I usually just use whatever editor is available, which is usually vim or nano (I feel like it's bad form to install my text editor of choice on someone else's computer).

I spent something like a year using vim so I could burn the basic keybindings into my muscle memory, but I still get annoyed by modal editing. Specifically being in normal mode when I thought I was in insert mode, typing a string of characters, and then fouling up the thing I was working on so badly that I need to quit vim, throw away my changes, and start over.

I started trying to learn emacs about a year ago. It's got a lot of quirks, probably because it's been grown organically for 40-odd years, but it seemed interesting to me at the time.

But that's a lot of words to say that I don't have any strong feelings about what text editors other people use.

I'm using Atom for code, but I'm not really satisfied with it. It's close to being what I want - smart enough to be helpful, but not enough to be in the way - but really falls short.
