this is a good game. i have oranges but also pears and apples growing! and coconuts.

given the amount of crafting this game wants you to do, the sluggishness of the ui and actions is not very fun. also tool durability with no hints as to how long before tools pop is also extremely Not Good.

but the game is good.

It's an interesting game. I think the crafting a bit forced and the tool durability is annoying af. But the rest of it seems to be classic AC and that is a Good Thing. Been nice to play it again.. last time I played AC was on gamecube >

Supposedly you can refresh tools durability by customizing them, it doesn't help you know when it's time to do so, but it's less hassle if you wanna make sure you're tools are up and running for rock hitting and such.

I'm having a lot of fun with the game, it's one of the few games I've played that I've genuinely enjoyed taking pictures and video to share and do all that newfangled social jazz with.

I've got Cherries and Peaches so far, with oranges on the way.

Another thing I found more fun than expected is changing my outfit and passport at least once per day!

(I will admit, the passports might be far more for the memes than for the aesthetic)

I'm sharing an island with my wife, it's been nice so far. Very, very relaxing.

I find that after all these years and getting older I've pretty much suppressed my desire to optimise moneymaking to pay loans and get HHA things and am now just happy to fartarse around, develop things that look pretty and just enjoy not doing much in a semi-structured way. Being able to place furniture outside of the house was the secret sauce that the game has needed since the beginning and I'm glad that it's here.

Pretty excited to get the clothes store tomorrow too so we can actually get our outfit game on.

i've kind of been at that point since the beginning. but i could definitely see that becoming more of a thing as you get older. somehow slaving away to meet the ever-increasing demands of a landlord doesn't seem as fun in a video game when you have to do it irl.

i haven't been able to afford the game yet :<

This is exactly how I feel. There's nothing to prove to anyone as our friend circles dwindle to people we don't have to try hard to impress so we can finally enjoy the game in small pieces at our own pace without being burnt out.

I am annoyed that they removed tropical fruits. My favorite fruits (mango and banana) are gone :/ Crafting tools gets old very fast, too.... If the tools didn't break then I would say the crafting system is great, though.

My island's native fruit is peaches - which I don't particularly care for, so I've been planting a lot of oranges.

I just got the game today! I guess that means it's time to finally retire my New Leaf town, huh?

It is a bit strange to see how much they've cut compared to New Leaf, but the new features they've added seem exciting. I may or may not have already graffiti'd up my island with Shadow Mario's insignia.

Being that it's the same team as Splatoon on Animal Crossing, I expect the quarterly updates that Splatoon1/2 got for about 2 years after launch in the same sort of fashion.

There's a few too many obvious things that aren't there, plus with the way that Easter has been handled, it seems like the obvious plan forward for the game.

Funny enough, just today there has been talk of villagers referencing features that don't exist yet, such as art in the museum and The Roost. I guess that means they have more than just holidays planned for the future!

Edit: And what do you know? The game has art now. I guess it's only a matter of time before we get The Roost and Gyroids.

I think I'm finally burning out on the game.

I still try and play once a day, but I'm not quite...excited about it like I used to be. But yeah. Skipped buying turnips this week for the first time since release, too.

The wedding event is absolutely adorable however.

I'm still playing around three hours a day!

It's slowed down to mostly doing daily things (three villager + amiibo camper + message-in-a-bottle DIY recipes, emptying shops, gifts to all villagers, interacting with the daily visitor) plus extra stuff like slowly trying to get enough copies of all the spare bugs/fish (one for museum, three more for the models) and cleaning up my grossly-overflowing flower-breeding set-ups after all this June rain.

We're a few months in and I still haven't finally decided on what I want to do with my indoor decoration, since I'm still very far from a complete catalog (though admittedly that's a many-years-away long-term goal) and so I can't just place stuff and see what I'm happy with. Even the room pictured above – an attempt to replicate my real-life room – needs bookshelves before I'd be satisfied (one to replace the top-right trophy shelf and two more along the bottom), and yet somehow I still haven't gotten the wooden bookshelf DIY recipe from Lazy villagers...!

To anyone still playing, I'm interested in trading spare DIY recipes...! My list of spares and still-missing recipes is on the first page of my catalog, though you'd be better off pinging me on Discord to get an up-to-date version.

Heck, you have a better sense for interior decorating than I do. Nice.

Haven't played in a few weeks and I don't really have that much desire to get back on. I got too busy with uni for a while and sort of lost interest as a result, and I don't think the game could get it back. I've probably had that with every one of them since the DS one, but I sure played the Gamecube one a lot for years. Can you even be burned out that long from a game 19 years prior in the series?

Maybe you're all playing alone on your islands (that seems to be by far the most common from what I'm seeing online) but I'm on an island with some family and the person who owns the game/is the representative stopped bothering well before I did. As a result I don't think we've progressed past the campsite and even getting visitors out of there falls to my mom logging on as them. I think he's meant to be able to do terrain and path stuff at some point too.

I play with my wife, so we share an island.

I think that's helped a lot with the game's longetivity - we both do small things here and there to make a nice town so there's usually always some surprises when we play. I don't multiplayer much though unless turnips are involved.

That being said, I've had a few changes in perspective since my last post and it's a bit more exciting to play again, but we'll see how that goes.

I play with my wife, too, and I think that's been a detriment to me playing. She's doing such amazing things with our island (It doesn't hurt that she's not working currently and I am) so I feel less inclined to do the things I would normally be doing. She's breeding our flowers, so I don't need to do that, she's giving our villagers cool and/or stupid stuff. So a lot of the stuff I would be doing is taken care of for me.

And to top it off,(And this is the bigger issue with me not playing anymore) I kind of hate all the furniture in the game. Every time I upgrade my house, I struggle with what I'm going to put in it, because there just aren't that many furniture sets, compared to, say, New Leaf. And those that exist are so boring and mundane.

It sucks because I've got three of my all time favorite villagers, but I still can't bring myself to care about this game. I think the main culprit is the DIY mechanic. They invested so much in it, that they took away everything that was interesting if it would compete with DIY. I don't like any of the chairs, I hate all of the tables, I'm totally uninterested in almost everything in this game. I tried with the wedding thing, i thought that would be fun, but it really isn't. It's so frustrating trying to set up a cute wedding scene, only to be reminded that there is no good furniture in this game.

With the mechanics involved, this really should be my favorite Animal Crossing game, but it's just not. I want to like it, but I find that I can't.

I actually ended up pulling my cartridge out just to stop playing it. Not out of any addiction, but more just to stop myself from ... well, subjecting myself to the game. Like someone said, it's very much designed to slow-roll everything, and a lot of the restrictions are just... arbitrary and not fun.

The museum stamps where you only got to see three of them a day, but the rewards were the same each time (so the game even told you it was pointless); the wedding stuff that just seems to be Easter all over (do something boring repeatedly so you can get eggs to craft themed items earn not-premium-currency to buy themed items ...

I know they're supposedly adding more in patches, but it just felt really shallow and heavily steeped in freemium game philosophy.

All of y'all playing New Horizons and talking about the issues in it reminds me why I've been enjoying New Leaf a lot lately, especially now I found a rom hack for it called Welcome Luxury that takes a lot of the tedium out and still allows online play (so long as you don't join Club Tortimer)

But yeah, I was thinking of getting a Switch for AC:NH but I may stick with NL+romhacks for now if everyone's getting burnt out. X's point about freemium mechanics makes a lot of sense too as they foreshadowed it with the free amiibo expansion in New Leaf.

Ahh, that's exactly it, isn't it? It doesn't feel like Animal Crossing, it feels like another crummy phone app... except I paid $60 for it.

That said, I did get a lot of enjoyment out of it while it lasted, and the rest of my family did, too. If I had no idea what Animal Crossing was, I'd probably be pretty pleased with it, it's only when you compare it to older titles that it loses its lustre.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
