With all that was said, someone from high up in the chain (Also from another city where they are much more relaxed about covid that we are here) decided that instead of having our Monday morning meeting through MS Teams, we should all get into the conference room on Tuesday because he would be in town that day.

I called out. I don't think I'm going to last much longer at this job.

β New wave seems to be hitting a bunch of America, and maybe a bunch of Europe? Governments keep trying to reopen schools and stuff and it's not working so great a lot of places. Too depressed to try to source more detail, check your appropriate local media and stay safe out there.

That moment when the coding job I should be doing requires security that makes it impossible to do remotely, but also I literally can't do it for about a month because the boss is ill and the servers I should be developing for have serious issues that prevent them from working as well.

Aaaand speak of the devil. I was told to switch to remote work (even though this would basically mean no work at all) because my boss, who fell ill, turns out to have had COVID-19.

Pro: no work for about a week, yet I'm still getting paid.

Con: I contacted with my boss before, which means I might have gotten COVID-19 as well :-(

(Hope the boss recovers soon and that I didn't catch the rona.)

Have gotten it and quarantaine is a bit annoying, even for a shut-in.

In other news, it's remarkable just how much the news is preoccupied with the "return to normal" and "can we have family over for christmas" like they're begging for reality to suspend itself so things can be ignored at a convenient time. I'm not aware of the latter being a huge tradition over here in the first place.

Well, that didn't last long. This Thursday, I got a fever, a doctor gave me a COVID-19 test on Friday, and a few hours ago I got the results -- the test was positive. I don't have any serious symptoms, but I'm worried about my family, since the parents are both over 60 and have some health issues and are now likely to catch it from me :-(

it very very quickly went from "i've never known anyone with covid" to "Literally All Of My Friends Have Covid Simultaneously" and i'm surprised i haven't caught it yet

i'm currently in the process of accepting the fact that i will be getting covid sooner or later. really seems like a matter of when, not if

i knew this would all happen when they started to open everything up last year. like what were they thinking? does anyone remember that weird month-period where we went from double-masks to no masks?

my mom says that covid will become like the flu and we'll just have to get new shots for it every year. it kinda makes sense. it really feels like part of our ecosystem permanently. grass grows, birds fly, covid exists

Since the pandemic began, all my classmates are happy because everything would be online, and now I go to face-to-face classes with a schedule, Wednesday and Thursday, something dynamic.
I already got vaccinated twice from what was left over from last year, now it's still July for the third dose.

honestly shocked i haven't gotten covid, but i guess i've been a shut-in lately...

multiple family members of mine have recently received really bad symptoms of covid, around the same time that everyone i knew had covid, but they tested negative... i think there's an issue of false-negatives happening...

Most of my family got the virus, but recovered just fine. I'm lucky I didn't catch it cause I'm in my room all the time and I follow the CDC guidelines.
Before that happened, I've received my booster shot, and I'm still waiting for an email or text saying that the workplace downtown is back open.

Here in New York, Covid-19 rates differ, then there's people who still wanna be anti vax.

I got both shots of Moderna and the booster last year. Me and my family are fully vaccinated, and I still wear my mask when I go outside etc.
