what's funny is that I seem to remember several of those previous tos changes and site updates n whatnot bringing those same comments, so I had grown numb to it.
most of the changes were stupid (lol social media) but it didn't really tank the userbase from what I could see

but pretty much right after I had drifted away from the site, this particular change happened, and then I saw that it actually did die.

like, I still check there, infrequently. there's a few folk who've stayed there, and don't seem to have like, a another account on twitter or whatever that they also frequent
but a lot of em do, if they haven't just outright abandoned their tumblr for twitter/etc

eh my younger friends still use tumblr quite a bit. i still haven't been a super active user in years

i much prefer it to twitter, it's way less stressful

It's certainly dropped off the public eye. I feel like at least part of it has to be that it's always felt like the place was somewhat hostile to use, like I go to a link for a tumblr blog and it just spits me onto my unused dashboard, but when I retry it works as it should. At least most of the stuff I find there is neat.

(Remember how tumblr went with the absolute worst thing around the time everyone did last-minute GDPR compliance? I think that's still up.)

I still see people using tumblr, just... less than before, obviously. There's not really been anything to replace it that's had similar adoption.

I still post on Tumblr, but I barely get any traffic on my posts compared to before the change. It's no exaggeration to say that my posts get less than 20% of what I used to get. It's a shame, because that's still more than I get on Twitter.


I hear that lately people have been moving to Pillowfort as an alternative that is kinda similar to Tumblr, though I have no idea how good/popular it really is. I might check it out if it gets big enough.

When I saw that link, I thought, neh... No way I'm signing up for a Tumblr clone.

But I decided to click on it and the first thing I see is this, and of course, it's my one weakness... Webcomics.
