I guess one small problem that cropped up while testing this is that the new changes will make the "briefing" field no longer accept HTML, but from a quick check nobody (two people) used it ever. And that's one less weird place to stuff junk, so...

I'm not sure that special entities like é need to be encoded, though?

The "styling" could probably just use the built-in theming (we do have colors for input types, after all). Now just figure out how to make it have keyboard shortcuts, and then add smilies and colors and you're golden.

Might need to add something like "[color=red", though, which would probably be better than the current [red, [blue etc.

Of course at that point, you could do something silly like using to choose a text color

v2, now with keyboard shortcuts, smilies and the color thing, may need a refresh

alt+b - bold
alt+i - italics
alt+u - underline
alt+s - strikethrough
alt+[0 through 9] for the rest

smilies do not have keyboard shortcuts

it assumes that color with be changed to color=red rather than the current one

also it needs better symbols because the current ones kinda look bad (or they display as emoji, depending on your device/browser)
