I've stood on a precipice of disaster for longer than I'd hope.
Waking moments faked to fulfill something unreal to me, unreal to the world.
We're all trapped here together, but some forced to adapt where others are let wander free.
It's a cold feeling, not having a hat. But, with a hat you're but a shape defined falsely.

I don't think so, and I don't think the dictionary does, either. Those would be more of a hair accessory, wouldn't they?

What if your ribbon represents you symbol of office?

head covering is vague and would also include any kind of non-solid drapery. This means hoods are hats, too. But they're not particularly solid things.

I soppose a flower crown would definitely count.

Headwear is an area brimming with opportunity for puns and wordplay. I'm surprised people haven't made a hatstart with it. Sure it wouldn't be a crowning moment, but does it have to be?
