I'll miss the days where it was warm enough to go swimming (at least until they turn the pool heater back on ...) but I'm not going to miss the $300+ power bills or the 110°F days.

Many years ago this would be about the time most of us were going back to school, but these days I suppose more of us are stuck with employment.

We never even get breaks from employment proper.

The kids are lucky and ought not complain about having to go back.

oh no i feel older for that one

Would be nice if I had employment. :X

Frankly I'm happy summer is over, I don't have AC in my apartment so the really warm days there is basically nothing I can do.

BRING ON WINTER HELL YEAH

mainly because I'm in the SF bay area so "winter" is just temps ranging 65F/18C max and 36F/2C low with only rain, no snow. basically just a perfect time to bundle up and not worry about really needing to put on the heater.

like lunaria no AC in my poorly insulated upstairs apartment so summer can go fuck itself. will be happy to finally retire my clown shoes negative pressure-inducing mutli-fan system in my room to keep temps below 95F/35C....

also i can't swim

the best part about summer coming to a close is PAX west. excited for next week baby

The older I get the less I like summer. I just hate dealing with the heat and it doesn't help that the room my computer is in didn't have proper AC.

At least this summer had a lot of rain and thunderstorms.

The back half of this summer was "the sky is brown and the whole province smells like a wildfire and oh god I can't breathe".

I'm looking forward to not having to deal with that for another 10 months.

Summer was pretty great in Finland. Pretty hot, but certainly staying around 28-30C. The weather is cooling down and it's raining now and then.

It's actually completely opposite to last year - all rain, few days of sun - this year was all sun, few days of rain.

I don't think I've -ever- liked summer. Public pools as a kid were gross, the heat meant I was inside all the time and didn't talk to anyone, etc. -- in HS I'd go completely nocturnal every time. I wish society would collectively shift schedules into the night when it got over 30C -- I think it'd improve everyone's lives. Managed to do a bit of something with it this time at least...

i hate summer and this summer was a particularly rough one (i swear it didn't dip below 95 all of june and like half of july, and we were lucky enough to get a few 110F days!!!!!). on top of that, the only AC we have is a wall unit which broke on the hottest week of the year. that was good. the heat literally made me physically sick bc there was hardly any real respite from it

fuck. summer. i didn't get to go swimming this year (granted, it's still warm enough that i conceivably could, but i still dunno if i'll get the chance), but other than that i just want it to end already. bring on the crisp autumn breeze and pretty changing colors and falling leaves and comfy warm snuggly clothing

It was hot everywhere I went so I'm glad that's over with. I still like winter enough, lemme get my warm clothes and head to frozen snowed over swamps anyway. Also, cheap flight tickets because who'd fly to Estonia in January

This summer basically came and went — the "yey no school" attitude is pretty much dead by now.

First of all, this year about half of what would have been the summer holidays was thrown out of the window thanks to exam time around the end of July and all of the work done to prepare for it (which also counted as a separate exam). The exams themselves went well, but I'd still have preferred to have done them one month earlier.

It also seems that as the years pass less and less I go swimming — mostly because the beach around here is not that good and isn't too near home. I've been used to much better (and faster to go) places when I was a kid so it's kind of difficult to turn back. I miss those a lot, but unfortunately I can't just go there anymore as it would cost too much. :/

On the upside this time I did have AC in the apartment so it wasn't as terrible as it could have been... except for the part where it's only downstairs and I do most of the things at home upstairs. As a minor example of bad things which did happen, the heat would sometimes get in the way of drawing.

meh, I'd prefer it more if I spent the summer at said better place, just like in the old days. oh well.

We also got some days with up to 38°C. It was a hot and dry summer. I almost miss it, as temps crashed down to abou to 20°C in only a few days

But living in an apartment at top level with no AC was a challenge. But I and my GF perfected the technique of opening all Windows during "cold" time at night and closing them all and closing all blinds and curtains as soon as the temps started to climb worked. Remember: Keep everything closed until the temps outside drop below the inside temps.

With some exception, was able to keep temps below 30°C on the very hot days. And below 25°C on the others.

Meanwhile at work, half the time, AC didn't work on the locos, and you all may know, how hot a car can get in summer.

Meanwhile, on this side of the sphere, winter has come to an end. By winter, I mean that thing where there's no snow and apparently also no rain (???) and it's maybe a fire risk all year round now (???????!!!).

So now we all anxiously await the heat death of the universe Adelaide.

I am actually going back to school, but it'll probably be the last time doing so as a student. I'm getting a master's in education, and I should be finished this school year. After that, I'll still be going back to school at the end of summer, but it'll be more like going back to work.

I personally don't mind the heat too much, so summers are nice. The humidity always gets to me and makes my hair all frizzy, though, and I generally prefer fall or winter clothes over summer clothes. I'm not an outdoorsy person regardless, so it doesn't affect me that much.

I very much enjoy swimming, but I usually don't have the opportunity to do so. I did manage to go swimming for the first time in years with some friends a few weeks ago, though, and I had a really nice time! I hope I'll be able to do it more often in the future.

At least we live in a literal desert, so "no rain" is normal (and even then, we got more than y'all seem to have).

It's cooling off here; I noticed that the AC in my car was actually cold this morning, and it's about time that the power bill starts coming down. We went to the pool a few days ago (and maybe again soon?) while it's still almost tolerable, and now that Raspberry has a swim dress she can join us again.

The good news is that as it cools off, we might be able to use the grill again.

Didn't take long for you to fall to that weather, then.

The last few days of really hot weather are here; I think it was 104°F and it's going to start cooling off. Probably the last few days to enjoy the pool here (at least until they turn the heater on), but of course it's the few days that work and home mean I don't have the time to go enjoy it.

I wish there was a pool by me to relax during the summer. There aren't any unfortunately.

The weather here lately's the usual roller-coaster September pattern: 70s and 80s until the end of the month.
