Unless you're hyper paranoid, you really don't have to run every bit of security software under the sun. Ever since the advent of secure boot, the amount of virus cases I've actually had have dwindled to nothing. Even ransomware cases have pretty much gone to businesses exclusively as targets, usually through Exchange. It's money thrown away anymore.
Most I'll give an individual on a start of their new system, or after a recovery from some scam (most common thing I'll see as compromise anymore), is uBlock Origin in their primary browser. That's it. There is no longer any need for anything else. Browsers are the hardest hit piece of software for a standard user but if you put at least something in like that, you're fine 99.9% of the time unless you commit digital suicide and go somewhere you obviously shouldn't.
