Oh, Android could definitely be a good tablet OS. The Nexus 7 (2013) was an absolute joy to use for years, but unfortunately support wanes over time and the hardware eventually just can't keep up anymore. There just haven't been any tablets of that caliber ever since. It was nice and powerful for the time, and it didn't cost a ton too. No expandable storage was a bummer, but didn't affect me quite as much since I didn't plan on storing a lot of music on it like I tended to with my phone.

The problem now is that there's very few higher-end offerings. To my knowledge Samsung is the only one even putting anything powerful on the table, and everything else is just low-end stuff tailored toward just web browsing and media consumption. It's why iOS kinda just sits there uncontested in the content creation realm, really, aside from the Surface...

Oh man I never posted in this thread, keep in mind this is also under the perspective of someone using a laptop from 2011 with a screen resolution being the grand total of 1366x768.

When you have a reasonably spec'd machine 10 is... alright. It's still Windows so it will still run the programs you need. That, and the work laptop runs 10 so I'm more used to it.
With the exception of a few neat things (like the improved tiling features, though they also annoy me at times, or better high dpi support), I still prefer the aesthetics of Windows 7, the colorful icon style (designers are getting real lazy these days), the "non-flatshit" Classic Theme, and not having everything with ridiculous gigantic padding.

Granted, the latter two aren't as terrible with high dpi monitors but at least have an option for configuring them without having to resort to hacks which may or may not break on the next update. Customization options? In 2021? Ha ha no.

The 10 Start menu is a big bulky mess with giant tiles and advertisements. You can slim it down, but even then you're not getting things like quick convenient links to places like Downloads on a nice ordered list.

Also, give back menu bars on non-tablet devices. There should be no reason to use the hamburger menu Chrome popularized (for some reason) when using a mouse, but thay may be too much to ask for.

On the other hand, the Vista/7 Control Panel is terrible mess of pages where you have to navigate through a maze to find what you need unless you explicitly search for it, but even then it doesn't help at times. The new control panel on 10 is in theory better since most of everything is one single layer of nesting... it's unfortunate that it's incomplete, requires DWM because UWP, and like other UWP apps its graphic design is something I very much disagree on.

I actually think that Win10 has the best iteration of the start menu to date and in general is a lot more usable than older windows versions in general.

Pretty well the only thing that really bothers me about it is that you can't trust that what you had open will still be open if you leave the computer on overnight for whatever reason because it decided to do an update.

I have an unpopular tech opinion which... nobody here has mentioned yet?!

I prefer LCDs to OLED displays by a wide margin. I don't like having to worry about what I'm displaying on my screen just to extend its life. The contrast ratios on OLEDs are nice, sure, but it doesn't outweigh the drawbacks.

My current smartphone is an iPhone 8 Plus which I've owned since it launched in September 2017 (45 months ago). It has a 1080p LCD that still looks as good as it did on the first day. No burn-in. No colour shifting or blotchy backgrounds.

Before I switched back to iOS in 2015, I had a Galaxy S3 and then a Galaxy Note 3 - both with successive generations of Samsung AMOLED panels. Both developed noticeable degradation in less than two years, and that was with me taking measures to minimise impact - keeping the brightness low, using dark themes, etc.

The S3's panel had weird "ink blot" patterns when displaying black, which was very noticeable in a dark room.

The Note 3 alleviated this but did something even worse. It would power off individual subpixels, which would then need to be turned back on. Each subpixel had a different delay when powered again. The result was hideous; in apps with pure black backgrounds, text would be surrounded by a purple trail when scrolling as the subpixels lagged behind.

Screen tech has gotten a lot better since then, but burn-in is still inherent to OLEDs because of how they work. Apple has even applied for a patent on tech that helps to alleviate burn-in by storing records of which pixels have been used, and other companies are almost certainly doing similar things.

Rather than dealing with this faff, I'd rather just have a LCD panel which looks 95% as good and will never degrade.

The potential burn-in is the primary reason why I try to avoid OLED as much as possible.
With that said, I'd use a phone with the shittiest OLED panel possible before I would use the absolute garbage that is the fucking iphone.

Either get a new gimmick or you will find your posting privileges revoked. You did this same shit on the TCRF Discord and we had to tell you to knock it off there as well. We get it, you hate Apple, you don't have to keep telling us every damn time someone mentions the company or their products.

My posts can be harsh, but they are not trash and they speak the truth. And you think I'm closed minded, but you're mistaking that for someone who fucking know better. Apple fucking sucks. Its design sucks. Its UI sucks. Its whole philosophy sucks. Its marketing sucks, and more than anything else, their users fucking suck. They have to simplify, lock down into their shitty walled garden, and spoon-feed their whole user experience to them as they are too damn stupid to handle a real computer/device, and they have the fucking gall to claim that they are somehow superior to us because they paid more for an inferior product that barely lets them do whatever they want with it? They should include a fucking iPacifier at this point, oh wait, I'm sorry, they would charge $299 for one of those, and you could bet your ass that the iSheep would wait days in line just to buy one. So to conclude, fuck apple users. Fuck them wholeheartedly.

This is not a gimmick, this is who I am. I think you grossly underestimate my hatred for apple and its community. I've hated apple for literally 20 years now, and I'll continue hating them until either they go out of business, or until my dying breath (actually, I may even settle for the end of the mac, which could potentially happen in a decade or two). I even celebrated steve job's death, at a party no less, THAT'S how much I hate apple. So no, I'm not going to change who I am for you, or anyone else for that matter.

retroarch is borderline unusable for me and i cannot understand how can people regularly use it as if nothing

setting up literally anything is a complete nightmare in contrast to standalone emulators, even just the gamepad controls is a convoluted headache

good luck fussing with any options beyond that in the absolute worst gui maze of really janky menus i've seen
even mednafen feels better to use

it's the only option i seem to have for high-latency emulation netplay and i'm stuck with it

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
