Snoveling snow is the worst. I have a kind of big porch to snovel off, along with some other things that takes about an hour. I've broken a few snovels from in the past but not yet.
All in all I'd rather live somewhere that gets cold for some of the year and have to snovel snow than live somewhere hot though.

Shoveling snow is the worst. My so-called best arm which I write with has arthritis in my right shoulder as a result of a broken collarbone years back after I fell in an accident. Tried it before a few years ago and it started hurting badly several minutes later.

I invented an advanced laziness tactic for snoveling. What you do is put the handle of the snovel against your stomach and just push the snow around but maybe it wouldn't work in all cases but it works for porches because you can just plow the snow off the sides in strips.

last year it started snowing in october and the last snow was in may

apparently this is not atypical for denver

i don't actually mind as long as it doesn't snow ALL the time and i don't have to shovel snow too terribly often

I was lucky once to see some of the grass around school freeze two years ago, when for one single day it was 1ºC, but that's a rare thing. I'm not sure I'll see that again any time in the next few years. And that wasn't even snow! There were some other frozen things outside though, such as the top of a bus, but mostly it was just cold.

“Winter is great”

Said nobody ever. Winter in New England is horrible. Frigid frost bitten cold temperatures, piles of snow, icy slick roads and assholes who don’t know how to drive thrown in for a good mix. Give me t-shirt and shorts weather year round and I’ll dump 4 months of snow into your back yard for an even exchange.

Spring and summer can’t come soon enough.

Winter is great.

I'm terrible at dealing with heat, and I get to make snowmen. I also live in an area that knows how to deal with snow, so the roads are generally clear, and there aren't idiots smashing into things left and right. I also still get way too much joy out of how much out sunrise/set times vary. In December, the sun's up for like 6 hours. In June, it only really gets properly dark for a couple of hours.

...but I went to live in Australia for a year, and now I'm terrible at dealing with heat and cold. :(

I live in central Florida, so "winter" basically occurs during a week or so in January.

There's a bit more of it when I usually travel to northern Alabama to visit family, but it's only snowed once when I was there. (Last year I think it started to right after I left thanks to barely missing a cold front...)

The coldest winter here that I can remember was 2003, if memory serves me correctly. It was freezing and there was another bad winter, both in extreme cold and snow but honestly, I don't remember. will have to look it up sometime.

Yeah, I really wasn't expecting the cold front up here. I felt like it was becoming tolerable to stay outside, but not anymore.

At least our days are getting longer. I'm tired of the darkness.

That's where I live and it's not that bad until the temperature starts going below zero which I remember being pretty rare generally. In the winter months if it gets to be 36+ degrees I'll wear shorts and a sweatshirt outside and that's good enough. Even this morning I walked a mile outside in the wind in a hoodie and pajama pants because I'm a complete madman and it was great.
When there's plenty of snow the best thing to do is play in it while it's dark out so the pesky sun doesn't blind you.

winter is great

except for the part where it doesn't snow

I'm still young enough (?) to consider snowing an almost entirely positive thing. It may be the fact that it never snowed to the point where shoveling snow that much was ever needed. Or that it almost never snows for that matter and sincerely I miss it. :V

One time, I saw some hail. Does that count?

OK, it's more than one time, and pretty much every time it hails, everyone goes to the windows to watch.
