This may be my bad email habits soaking through, but sometimes I open a thread and figure "oh... maybe I don't want to read the next two pages after all". In this case I would like to mark the thread as unread so that I know what I'm missing should I return to it in the future.

The entire thread, or at a certain point therein?

Well... ideally, opening a thread at anything but the last thread wouldn't unset the NEW marker at all. But that's changing existing behavior. I'd settle for just a button to mark the whole thread as NEW. (bonus points if it redirects you to back to the forum.)

Marking the entire thread as unread might be doable; I think one potential issue I see is that I believe the forum stores unread markers as a combination of the forum's global marked-read and the thread's, and I don't know if it's possible to override the forum one with a lower thread one.

Something to look into, I guess.

E: It might actually be possible to just have the board set the read date to the last post viewed instead of clearing it entirely (unless it's the last post). I'll see what I can do on that front later.
