I like computer chairs, you know, the kinds on wheels that you can lean back in to some degree and have proper back support. But a reoccurring issue I have is my long hair (what has fallen off to the floor) gets stuck inside the wheel houses. Some times even getting to the point where it's so much volume that it pushes the wheel halves off the house. >.<

Like, I feel that this shouldn't be an issue you're having? Why aren't the chairs designed around to avoid this? This is a slow issue that builds up over time, and I really feel that I can't be the only one who has had to deal with this crap.

They kind of imply that you should maintain them in manuals. Short of just not having wheels, there's not much you can do to prevent hair getting into the assemblies.

Alternatively: CASTERS, CASTERS EVERYWHERE. I mean the huge ones that literally wouldn't even fit that close together.

mmm, but usually the wheels are kind of hard to get off to even attempt to clean out the inside of the wheel house. Aside from popping off on their own, I'd be more worried about breaking things if I tried to force them off. <.<

Oh yes, I have had long hair get caught up in wheels and other things. It's longish again now, and I'm starting to see some of those problems peep into my life. It's also great for clogging up a vacuum cleaner.

Hair tends to get tied up in fans and other things here, given that we now have 3 people with long hair in this apartment

Now that I think about it, this all seems to be less of a problem now we don't have carpet. Our house has floorboards throughout, and stuff just seems to drift to the corners of rooms instead.

Ah yes, office chairs — one of the myriad reasons why I fucking hate carpet.

The last time I had one that worked properly, even with a mat specifically designed for carpets, the mat deformed and stuck the chair in one specific position on the floor.

I hate you, Walmart.

I like the idea of carpets I even own a purple one that I like, but like..., it didn't take long from me having one to me deciding to never have a carpet on my floor.
They just collect a bunch of dust and stuff and are hard to clean.

I'm currently really indecisive about having some rugs for similar reasons. Our house has floorboards throughout, and they are really nice, but I keep thinking it'd be good to have something soft for the baby to play on. But then I have to figure out how to keep a rug cleannnnn

I would rather have hardwood or something with a few rugs than carpet throughout.

Rugs are machine-washable, right? Right?

This has so far been the one and only upside to not having an office chair for me. The wheels would stop spinning completely because there'd be so much hair stuck.

I'm sure a steam cleaner counts as a machine, which washes rugs. And by that logic...

My chair doesn't have wheels, so I don't have this kind of issue.

However, having long hair brings other fun issues. Especially when showering. You always lose some hair while washing it, but it's way more visible when it's long. For a while I even wondered if that was normal.

It also clogs the drain so easily, and god is that thing gross to clean up.

I can relate to these things so much. <.<;

I'm always wondering if it's normal because I feel I drop loads of hair all the time.

I've got some decently long hair, and it still surprises me how much I lose in the shower, and brushing pulls even more of it out.

It's pretty normal, and very noticeable with long hair. Some situations will cause you to lose more or less hair, but generally you're always losing some.
