Wouldn't it be crazy if there was a randomizer for the Disgaea games?

I'm there with you. Racing randomizers is something I could see people doing casually between friends maybe, but I actually find the entire racing culture surrounding the randomizers to be pretty toxic. I tried to get into running the alttp one and playing on the weekly seed or whatever..., and it always just made me feel like shit rather than that I was having fun.

There is some sort of expectation there that everyone should just have the mindset of a speedrunner and keep playing and playing more and get better and better, rather than just, I dunno, joining for casual fun. I just ended up swearing of the entire thing, if I'm gonna play some randomizer I'm gonna do it because I *want* to and with people that are actually fun to play with.

Last I checked, the Z4 Randomizer was Discord-only I can try to get you a link if you'd like, though.

Oh, they actually sent me a download link on discord already, so I already took it for a spin. As you can imagine, it wasn't that enjoyable.

What would really be nice is an eventual way to make fully random dungeons and caves, but I don't think anybody is going to bother doing that any time soon

Yeah, I would want to see a randomizer that has that sort of effort into it. Be it of an old game, or just a straight up new title. One thing I would have loved to see in the alttp randomizer is *more* dungeons. And which dungeons it select to be random, so you don't quite know what you're in for when it comes to dungeons. As well as thematic options, like, always having an "important" item in the big chest in dungeons, etc.

There is so many angles to expand on and do more. But I can't really blame the alttp team for not doing more, given the amount of work that has gone into it already, etc. That being said, I have no idea who conceptually thought the Z1 style mode was a good idea, it's just a worse version of other modes but with a bunch of reference to Z1 that don't add anything.

I've recently seen some neat videos for a Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door "Extreme" Randomizer. What I find interesting about this is that the randomizer also adds its own sort of challenge/game on top of the game: adding a one hour time limit, awarding points for various in-game actions, and even controlling the flow of events based on how much time has elapsed. For example, it prevents boss encounters from occurring until after 20 minutes. It's very fun to watch the person run from room to room, frantically hunting for Crystal Stars and events that will manipulate their "sequence" value in a way that allows them to encounter boss battles or receive key items.

I've been obsessed with Randomizers lately and they have been pretty much all I've been streaming lately.

I was playing the SMxaLttP rando a lot in the past, but now I'm taking a good long break since it seems to like to stick Gravity Suit where the sun don't shine a lot of the time.(Last seed I played had it at Springball. NOPE)

Lately I've been playing a lot of the OoT rando (Dev) and am currently having a blast with Keysanity/Tokensanity.

I've also messed with Metoid Prime, Zelda 2, Wind Waker, and Earthbound randos recently.

I don't really bother with competitive multiplayer anything for that reason, but it's also unfortunate when the occassional teamwork things I do play devolve into optimization over everything.

On topic, when I watched randomized stuff streams it's because of who's playing. I think this might have been said earlier but to really enjoy randomizers you kinda need to be well more than familiar with the games and I never am.

Good thing I don't run those races because I wouldn't be that good at it. I just prefer the non-speedrunning method and just go at my own pace.

I haven't tried any new ones recently that catch my eye.

I've had a couple sit-downs with the FF5 randomizer. I'll at least give you mention of a humorous bit for one such run:
