hello there, im new to this board. im unsure what to say about myself.. im an artist i guess? i love to draw animals and girls with magic qualities. i am not very good at pinpointing my interests, but i appreciate most things. some common ones include astrology, naturalism, and cultures. i seldom gravitate towards games, television, film, or other fictional media; the occasional documentary is enough for me. after all, i get all the fantasy i could ever hope for and more from my own mind.

i love people but ive struggled with isolation lately. as a result, you will usually see me everywhere with my girlfriend, mirzaba, since she calms my nerves. in my old communities i tended to find myself in positions of trust and leadership despite not necessarily looking for it. i think i am all around genuine and unpretentious, despite how saying that sounds. i believe these to be my strengths.

my weaknesses are definitely my perfectionism and hyper-sensitivity. i am lawful-good aligning and would go to great lengths to thwart behaviour i perceive as damaging to the 'greater good.' i have always felt a vague sort of higher calling and that sometimes makes it hard for me to get close with individuals, but i do care about them a lot. i can also be too abstract, concrete subjects generally elude me. i was considered an 'indigo child' by many a therapist in my youth.

ive been having a rough time opening back up, so i was encouraged to seek out new people and communities a little more and happened to have this place recommended to me. i peeked around here and there and it seems very nice from what i can tell. who knows, i might make myself cozy here.

a little personality snapshot for those of you who are curious:
-i am INFP (IEI)
-9w1 enneagram (so/sp)
-aquarius sun, cancer moon, taurus rising
-year of the wooden dog in chinese astrology
-over-active third eye and heart chakra, under-active root and sacral
-common animal energies include cat, red panda, and ermine

Hi everyone, I'm also new. I'm a game artist, and I work in Maya, Substance, Unreal, Godot, and various niche software. My art encompasses horror, dilapidation, mystery, dark fantasy, various prefix-punk themes, the surreal, and the political. I'm very into anything high concept, strange, scary, atmospheric, or ambient; but I'm basically into everything. I dedicate my hobbies to experiencing and analyzing entertainment like games, film, music, etc. Sort of like the opposite of eifie. I'm also into naturalism and cultural analysis like her though.

I feel very alienated in most places online, because I have a radical Anarcho-Communist perspective, and it makes for a bad mix with the general atmosphere of most websites. I've read a lot of political and philosophical lit, but I'm more against philosophy in the academic sense now. So I'm kind of just moving around with eifie looking for nice communities. I'm super right brained and I try to go with the flow.

Some fave games: The Blackwell Legacy, Night in the Woods, and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment
Some fave movies: End of Evangelion, Princess Mononoke, and The Princess Bride
Some fave books: To Build A Fire, Hamlet, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Some fave tabletops: D&D 5E, Vampire the Masquerade, Shadowrun
Some fave comics: Homestuck (ofc), New 52 Swamp Thing, Kingdom Come
Some fave albums: Boards of Canada - Campfire Headphase, Cynic - The Portal Tapes, Iglooghost - Neo Wax Bloom
Some fave tv: Steven Universe, Venture Brothers, The Mighty Boosh

I've done a few of the personality quiz things, I think they're fun
I'm an INFP
Sagittarius Sun, Aquarius Moon, Capricorn Rising
Wooden Pig in eastern
Overactive sacral chakra, underactive root
My favorite animals are wolves, coyotes, fruit bats, and bearded vultures

Hey, I'm prism. I'm new here. I found out about this place from SC, and thought it looked pretty cool.

Um... I'm a Pisces Sun. I like books, comic books, webcomics, etc. In general I just really enjoy reading. Last year, I got really into Daredevil. I've been drawing since I was 4, and I like to think that I'm pretty good at it. I'm trying to learn programming, though I'm not particularly good at that yet.

thh i wouldn't be surprised if people who have at least some reservations about capitalism aren't the majority on this forum (myself included)

also girls with magical qualities and the campfire headphase and anarcho-communism and net art and goth+scene fashion and comic books are cool, hi!! you all seem cool/cute/nice!! (yes all of you)

only personality test thing i really know about these days is that my girlfriend insists i'm lawful good even though i thought i was chaotic good and this is a genuine point of contention between us

also that i'm an aquarius i guess?? and one time i was reading about it and this page talked about how ayn rand was an archetypal aquarius and it was just like "I Am Being Attacked and I Am Done Here"

i'm ashamed about revealing my MBTI type or even talking about the MBTI in general cuz i know more about it than most people should
like, i got embarrassingly obsessed with it in like 2013 and got really invested in learning about jungian functions and stuff and some dude on IRC yelled at me for it and called me a pseudo-intellectual (probably justifiably lol)

well, if anything the mbti functions (only the functions, not the letters) actually helped me understand myself a bit, but there's still a bunch of things that it doesn't explain or that creates contradictions depending on other's own interpretations of mbti, so ultimately i only really use it for basic self-reflection

it serves as a starting point, but not as a conclusion

My functions are almost NTFS, but not quite.

i think the main difference between lawful & chaotic would just be.. whether or not you really follow principles. i can appear chaotic and extremely contrived at times, but at the end of the day i do things because i feel strongly about them. whereas a chaotic person might appear lawful because they attach themselves to some set of principles at one time, but theres no real basis there and they are capable of switching the definition of what their principles are.

i would love to talk about MBTI & jungian stuff and learn more, i just never got into it because i felt like it didnt capture my understanding of things very well. i know a lot of people have this issue with astrology because the nature of it is that it is just randomly assigned at birth, but theres a lot more depth to it than that.

your sun sign is only the surface and the major idea behind astrology is that everyone will have a little quality of each sign, its just about where the placement falls in your chart. although i have some intercepted houses so i missed some signs in mine, i feel the lack of them says something about me too.

ummm i got out of hand. anyways it really is nice to meet all of you!

My functions are almost NTFS, but not quite.

i'm a layperson (i've spent 0 seconds in academia, ever, in my life) so take everything i'm saying with a gigantic mountain of salt, but my understanding is that jungian functions, foundational for myers-briggs, are at best unproven. from a neuroscientific perspective, while individual researchers have claimed observation of cognitive functions in the brain, there's been no consensus observation of their existence

or at least, that's my understanding. i've had to learn all of this on my own because the guy who brought to my attention that the MBTI was pseudoscientific didn't give any explanation or rationalization, he just mocked me (again, probably deservedly, but it did leave me with no real further understanding... i didn't even really understand falsifiability at the time so idk how i was supposed to have worked all this out already)

in general, older psychiatric theories can be ignored, tbh. they're all based on imprecise, weak observations at best and at worst are preformed sexist bullshit notions about how people work disguised as observational (freud)

i think the problem with myers-briggs contra something like astrology is myers-briggs assumes a framework of scientific understanding by attaching itself to a scientific discipline (psychology) and astrology doesn't assert itself as working within a scientific understanding of the world, more of an intuitive one, so i actually think it's better at what it's trying to accomplish

still, i understand how they can be useful for self-understanding -- when i was a teenager/young adult and trying to become my own person, i found the MBTI and later learned about cognitive functions and it actually helped me sort of crystallize a self-understanding that i'd sort of been feeling pulled in the direction of... but i'm not sure i can attribute that to anything that those theories accomplished, and it's more that i was using the "language" of those things to express my own understanding of my own personality traits

anyways hi sorry for the long post whew

once again, i couldnt have said better myself :o this sums up really well why i had trouble getting behind it. its definitely interesting and something i can learn from, but it just doesnt do as much for me when it comes to really getting a better perspective of myself and where i fit into things. it feels kind of flat and one-dimensional where astrology just.. really covers everything. every time i look up something new i discover something new in return and MBTI didnt feel that way to me.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. You all seem like really nice people, and I'm glad some people here share some of my interests! I also really love Jungian psychology, as a meditative tool. I think it's healthy to try to visualize your shadow, persona, animus/anima, etc.

I have a bit of a different perspective of chaos. Chaos represents freedom, and a lack of unjustified structure. All justified structure surfaces naturally and should be considered natural as such. It also represents dissidence, and a sharp denial of unjustified authority. For that reason I would consider myself chaotic good.

Hi, I'm Amberetto, and I'm a dumb nerdy trans girl who will never pass. I am mainly associated with DashieSim (she's my girlfriend!!!) but also Rambly (she's my roommate!!!), Reimu (they send me Dragon Quest games!!!), Raspberry (she helped me get on here!!!), and also some other people who might be here?

I enjoy jRPGs- I have done nothing but play Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games for the past few months, animals- especially cats, and finding new and creative ways to hurt myself at work (not really, it just happens a lot).
