So… like… what’s the deal? Did it just get voted out or something? Is it gone??! Or did I hear something about it needing to go through a high court or something??

Yep, the FCC voted 3-2 in favor of repealing the net neutrality rules.

80+% of the country hates the decision though and there's lawsuits coming plus it has to go through appeals court

I may be an optimist here but with the way the comments got fucking astroturfed and the faulty as hell defense Pai has like "ooh you can trust your ISP to not block or throttle" this probably could get shot down as long as there's blowback, which there is

That reason alone is why I'm not too concerned about all this. This decision still needs to go through the courts first, and the general public is way more aware of the issue at hand to put up with much.

At the risk of sounding like a dog in a burning building, this will be fine.
