-17 degrees today, though the sun is very bright and beautiful so we're looking for excuses to go outside.

It's a bit after 1 in the morning, and the cool change has come in.

From the sounds of it, it's brought thunder and lighting.

It's an awesome 62F today. Warm and clear. It's gonna be in the 60s in the early week and then drop down to the 40s by Wednesday...

It's only 31°C, so the baby and I got to actually leave the house! It's bright and clear and windless, with not a cloud in the sky, and the sun has some sting in it.

We went to playgroup.

These days have been more or less sunny, but it's not like I see much of it when I keep waking up fairly late.

it's summer but it hasn't been that bad recently: 25°C currently at like 10AM

it usually gets a little too hot after midday, at which point a fan on mid or high is absolutely required.

an addendum I've realized about now

at my real home, the upper floor is almost always fairly cold for some reason, meaning you can get away with wearing heavy clothes on

here it isn't the case fortunately. this does mean the difference in temperature is kind of jarring (8°C vs something much higher) compared to what I'm used to.

also, it's still sunny out there

My room tends to have a more extreme temperature than the rest of the house, I've noticed. Mom passes it off as “oh, every house has a room like that”, as if it's fucking okay for the modern assembly-line samey shit no-ventilation-having drywall hovel building industry to be fucked up like that.

Can we go back to the rise of HVAC and force house builders to keep using vernacular architecture pls

Also, high in the 70s today and rain.

Rain.

No, thunderstorms.

IN JANUARY.

My room is like that as well, but it's mostly because of the roof. Long story short, my room wasn't originally part of the house and was something else entirely. After a bit of work, almost everything in the room got fixed except for the roof, which is not very well built and just lets the heat pass right through it. That said, once it gets fixed then I assume the temperature is going to cool down here as well.

Oh yeah, I forgot about when the attic hatch in my closet(?!) failed and now there's a hole in the ceiling in there. Fun times.

Cloooooose the thermal envelope, people!

Well, it's the second to last day before another heat wave hits, and I'm going out. It looks beautiful outside. It'll be a little warm, with a max of 33°C.

I'm off to see my psychologist, and I might need to tell her it's going to be hard to see her during the summer. It's a bit hard to just… go places… when you are the only person taking care of a baby during the day. And he can't go out in the heat, babies are too sensitive to it. So I might have to just… manage… for a few months.

I needed to take a single bus to a place about 30 minutes away from here today. Y'know, nothing that unusual.

It was 30ºC and the sky was as clear as possible which made me wear shorts and a t-shirt, and I decided to carry no umbrella.

You can see where this is going.

It rains. The strongest part of the rain happened while I was inside the building, but I still caught a bit of it on my way to the bus stop. And now my right feet hurts a bit for no apparent reason. I like the rain, but I did not need to be on the rain.

A few days ago it warmed from from below freezing to around 70F, now it's down to 56F. Cloudy, humid, and gross.

it’s raining today but it’s been sort of cold inside the past few days and i’m tired of wearing thermals and a sweatshirt every day.

of course there’s a solution; i can draw my thermal curtains, but then my plants won’t get light. a real conundrum.

Heat wave starting up again. Going to try to go shopping when the baby wakes up, hopefully we'll be back before the sun tries to murder us.

The sunny days are coming to an end.

And this is just in time for what's probably the worst day of the week. Oh well.

It got to 41°C today, and it's predicted to reach 43°C tomorrow.

I made sure to clean the air conditioner filter so it keeps working efficiently.

Just, like, bomb Adelaide, so we can all be free of this suffering.

(It got to 44.1°C)

In the 40s today. Great for dog walking, at least compared to how the rest of this winter went.
