So I am looking at changing the in game music / audio tracks in Atari's California Speed.

I have the sit down arcade and changing the music will add to the game.. I got the .chd figuring I would test that before messing with my hard drive in the game.

I have extracted the .chd to iso/img but nothing I can find will mount the image or allow me to read it.

from what I can find its possibily a raw bit data read and or atari's proprietary file system.

Has anyone got any information on how I can read the drive/access the files to poke around at changing the audio tracks?

Ferrox on TCRF would know how. CHDMAN presumably allows you to look into these compressed images, but it's not easy to find good documentation on this thingy.

So - CHDman is very straight forward.. using it I was able to uncompress the chd and turn it into an img file.

However once mounted, the image is unreadable. The research I came up with states it is because 2 possible reasons:

1.) Atari file system - its own propriatery data format not readable by current iso standards
2.) The data is a straight binary dump and its feed directly to the arcade boards

In either case Im in way over my head for what I can do with the file.. kinda sucks I just wanted to swap the audio / music tracks to liven the game up a bit

Thanks I will reach out to the guy.
