Bogozone is hosted on one of those free website hosts, so it tends to... go down. A lot.
A lot. ____________________ (Lv 242 with 223583567 EXP) |

| (+) Where does “neoclassical” website design fall into this? Like, Original Flavor Mostly-Semantic HTML, with more modern CSS styles on a micro scale but still very document-oriented and out-of-the-way, without the huge amount of whitespace / “very design-y” stuff, limited use of JavaScript in progressive enhancement style. |

| I was reminded of a couple of places I used to go on for humor a long time ago, and I'm surprised that some of them are still up. Sidetalking, (the site making fun of the Nokia N-Gage) is still up in its 2004-2005 incarnation, with one update about the device's discontinuation. CrapMAME is a site showcasing awful MAME cabinets. It's been mirrored in several places, but this appears to be the original host. RinkWorks is an online entertainment site that I found through the Computer Stupidities page. The entire site's design and much of the content is straight out of the late 90s/early 2000s. |

| Almost all the sites hosted by or linked to in Konfiskated Technologies fall under this. It's a shame HG101 updated their layout, but I guess they have their reasons. This page on Spriteclad has a lot of links to sites like these, some of which were already mentioned here. ____________________ Twitter | Twitch Maybe one day I'll make a layout here. |

| I remember logging onto to this old website where I used to go gaming and played stuff like Red Earth and Red Earth 2 and Hexagon and N-Blox. I dunno what happened to it now but I guess it probably died. Bonus points if it’s still there. I don’t remember what it was called but it had a white background. Brings back memories. I remember using AOL as well. I think I used it as my gateway into games like Bejeweled, Skillgammon, Heavy Weapon and this shmup game where I played as a helicopter. Good times. |

| I was digging deep into some PC-88 music disk stuff, and found that the ACTIVE GAMERS website still seems to be around. It also still seems to be maintained and updated. |

3DTuning.com has apparently been up since 1998, and has never ceased to update. Right now it is rather impressive, but still needs dozens of updates. There was a time when they released 5 models a week, doing very little to them. Now it's more like 2 or 3 models once or twice a month, and at least 1 has a huge layout of options. There was a phase when they were going to update a bunch of past models, and then they instead just kept adding new ones. Now there's this division between vehicles and truck(s), and a car voting system is also in place. Just recently, they added an ad-blocker detector. There is also an update for adblock plus, which removes the ability to only block certain ads (instead its all ads or only ones that block the page). I used this tool to block the squid that captures turf before it's cool.

| Maybe it doesn't count since it isn't still up and hasn't been public for years, but Challenge Games was one of the larger ROM hacking sites prior to Acmlm's Board's monopoly over the community. Nowadays most of its former "big" members are on Chris M. Park's (that site's creator) newer site for his company Arcen Games, but it's pretty unrecognizable compared to back in the 90s. They don't even do ROM hack-related stuff anymore, now it's all serious game development - and they're not half bad either. As for sites that still exist, bash.org and smwcentral.net are both good examples of old-ish sites that haven't changed a bit. SNESmusic.org's layout has changed a few times but its design still gives off the impression of an older era of the internet. Skytopia was an obscure cool site that's still (sorta? kinda? last update was three years ago but it's been around since like 2002 so that's still impressive in my mind) active, even if I only ever looked at it for the VGM ranking pages. And someone pointed out VGMusic as well, that was another good one. |

Also board.kafuka.org is a good example of a site. Some Julers go there, me included.
![]() That one started after blackhole failed to listen to anyone yet again (iirc it was Emuz and KP who were the driving members of starting Kafuka) after the split that caused Jul to happen. Though it's not actually about ROM hacking compared to most other ABs, it's more a general chat thing. I might make a geocities esque website sometime soon, my main domain looks old tho ____________________ |
