I guess that's my reminder to back this (3 hours left, oops)

Anyway, it's not here yet, but I got one of these:

I also got some replacement FDS drive belts, so whenever those arrive it's time to do dumb retro crap.

I also bought 3 different AV Multi Out to SCART cables, mostly so that we could cut them in half and make an FDS Stick cable for better dumping (instead of having to use tapedump )

It arrived on Saturday and I already made a video with it, since one of the first things we wanted to try out with it ended up uncovering a silly error after god knows how long.

Wow, that's silly and awesome at the same time!
Would this work with other Compile games?

Also, I did also get some new stuff:

I finally got some matching Game Boy Players for my 4 NTSC Cubes. They look so much better now!

Wanna be my friend? I already have some, but the more the merrier.

Also you'll need a Game Boy Player Boot Disc or a way to launch homebrew.

Are there any softmods analogous to Free McBoot on the PS2?

Are you in the area? (Europe), else I can be persuaded for some voice chat if ya like.

No. There isn't.
If you don't have a modchip installed, a bootable disc is always needed.
You can either use a savegame exploit. You'll need someone to write the save to the memorycard, a softmodded Wii can be used for this.
OR you can buy the Datel SD Media Launcher, which comes with an SD-Card adapter (SD-Gecko). Also works as an Action Replay for cheating and Freeloader to play import games.
OR you can use an Action Replay with lots of AR codes to patch itself to boot from SD-Gecko, if you don't already have one, buy the SD Media Launcher instead.
OR you can use the PSO Exploit with a broadband adapter (BBA) (expensive).

I use an SD Media Launcher and a SSBM savegame exploit to run Game Boy Interface.

More newly-assembled than new. This little guy was for practice.

Got a cool new CPU case that comes with more fans and also supports USB 3.0! Except my motherboard doesn't support USB 3.0. And also I can't put an internal DVD drive on it, so no CD/DVD reading/writing for a bit.

One thing at a time! Next priority is going to be an external DVD drive and an SSD, which will hopefully be provided in the coming months. Last priority is going to be a new motherboard + CPU, which is going to take a while, at least a year if not more.

Probably going to switch to the new case next week.

Got a PlayStation 2 Slim (SCPH-70004) at a flea market for 8 Euro! But no power supply, no AV cables, no controller; just two Memory Cards, one by Sony for PS1, one 3rd-party card for PS2. Also a leaked clock battery and thus corrosion/rust on the RF shield, but that cleaned up decently.

It does work with a universal PSU and runs games just fine, from both CD and DVD, so I ordered an original PSU and a replacement battery. Hoping to get a modchip for it too, tho I'll first need someone to install it since I'm not skilled enough for that kinda soldering

picked up Let's Go Eevee with the Poke Ball Plus a couple days ago
it's really not nearly as easy-peasy as people made it out to be,
even with the powerful partner eevee
it's also very, very cute
*adorable eevee noises*

Got a very crappy component video cable for the PS2, which has significant ghosting on high contrast edges - think the PS2's main menu, the text versus the dark background.

Then I found and ordered a used, official Sony component cable from eBay, from Austria for 15 Euro shipped. Hope that'll work better, tho I'd assume so because it's official?

I'll probably return the crappy one once the other one arrives...

That's kinda similar to what happened to me. The slim PS2 I picked up recently has a flip top. Not that I yet 100% understand how flip tops work, or especially wanted to get back into PS2, the price was irresistible. While I already had an official component cable, I preferred not to use it on the TV that doesn't accept 240p component.

That is until fortune backed by some googling smiled again. A PSP PSU I'd stashed away turns out to be a direct replacement to resurrect my Framemeister! We'll see how long it lasts.
