Also kinda not really a fan. My Wacom tablet is an Android and I don’t really like it much in Android mode. I almost exclusively use it attached to my computer instead. If I need a mobile tablet I’ve taken to using my iPad Pro.

there’s sadly no good Yue Chinese 粵語 input for Android. this is vital for me rn b/c it’s the main way i talk to my parents. pretty sad that there isn’t a good Android solution for a language that 60 million ppl (including 87.5% of Hong Kong) speak.

think i’m stuck on iOS for now.

I wasn't being entirely serious with the Android suggestion (hence the goofy smilie).

Neat figures, Eppy.

Are there any alternative keyboards that might fit? It seems strange that Chinese wouldn't be a usable input option considering that I'm certain a fairly large userbase exists that needs it.

no, not good ones. again, this isn’t Mandarin Chinese, it’s Yue Chinese 粵語 or Cantonese.

I also didn’t think you were, but I didn’t know where else to go conversationally. I also wish I liked Android more, but I’ve tried and ehhh.

I think I’m considering the phone so much because it’s the only gadget I get to engage a lot with lately. I constantly need my phone for various baby related timers and measurements. Between it and the Apple TV, I’d probably get the most enjoyment out of it for my money. But I also hesitate because I might just want to buy something to cheer me up…

It's like a chair (for a desk job); if you're going to spend a lot of time dealing with it, you should at least get one that's comfortable and enjoyable.

From another angle, is there a reason your current phone should be replaced? Would it have a major impact over your current one? (From what I remember when I had the iPhone, old models still tended to be quite capable.)

Obviously I'm not you, and I'm not trying to push you one way or the other, just offering different points of thought.

Well, there's nothing really wrong with my current phone, which is why I also suspect I just want something to make me feel better about… life. Expensive retail therapy.

Oh hey, me too!

Though I've managed to hold off this month, mostly. Bought a few records that I'll be getting next weekend, and I still haven't paid for the new phone I got (though that wasn't a planned upgrade, the Pixel XL is not waterproof ) so I'm trying to take it a little easier with the spending this month.

i do want to say, i hated my iPhone 6 so much that it made me want to get rid of phones forever. it was so big + clunky. but once i got the SE, it completely changed my mind b/c the improvement was that dramatic.

Expensive retail therapy is always fun, except when you're like me and that is dumping $240 down a slot machine. At least if you buy something you have something to show for it

Considering the machines are very much engineered to be addictive and brain-tickling, I'm just glad that I mostly restrict myself to only gambling in very limited cases.
