This particular detail is huge, IMO. According to Dylan Cuthbert, who had helped with programming Starfox and developed Starfox 2, the version of the game circulating the Internet isn't the completed version, and supposedly has an actual cartridge copy given to him to aid in Starfox Command's development as proof.

It's slated to release September 29th in North America, September 30th for Europe. And while Nintendo will produce more of these than the NES Classic, it will only be available in stores for three months.

I can't wait to not be able to get it!

Actually, though, the two games I wanted the most were Chrono Trigger and Donkey Kong Country 2 .... Seeing as neither made the cut, I've been debating whether to just get a raspberry pi and use retropie :/

If it's not dumped in a week I'd be sorely disappointed.

Bonus points if Dylan Cuthbert somehow is allowed to sneak in a developer note in the SF2 ROM, but that's just wishful thinking.

Actually, I've become slightly more interested in it after realizing that it might get hacked and we'd be able to insert more ROMs into it... That would be nice.

And I'm sure Star Fox 2 will be dumped within 48 hours of launch, to be honest.

48 seems like a lot.

NES Classic got hacked, and people were putting full romsets on it, so I'm sure this one'll be the same shortly after release.

I'm hoping to get one! Even if it means camping out in front of a Walmart the morning of. NES Classic never really grabbed me, but I grew up on SNES games.

It's hard not to notice that the SNES Classic has barely much of anything. I suppose Nintendo is doing a Disney strategy by not overwhelming the market with too many re-releases, but it's still a little silly how short it is. The sad part is I know why a lot of the games weren't included, usually either due to technical or legal reasons, which may be one of the big reasons the selection is as small as it is.

An odd thing I've noticed is that the NES and SNES Classics only have games by Japanese devs, as if Nintendo could only grab a hold of whatever Japanese dev they were lucky to get into contact with.

That's what happens when...

a) The product quantity is limited, thus not everyone who wants it will get it.
b) The product demand is way higher than what can be made, thus resulting in fierce competition to get the systems first.
c) Knowing both full well, there are people who are intentionally buying loads of SNES Classics and those people will exploit demands by jacking up the price higher than the original recommended price.

This is a classic Nintendo move though, to under-deliver in order to fake demand. :/

Case in point: They stopped manufacturing the NES classic despite it's sales being blown out of supposed expectations. This unit will likely suffer the same fate, and then they'll start bitching at people for choosing to emulate their games instead when they don't offer the service and product people want.

I'm just all sorts of tired of Nintendos garbage and how horrible they treat their consumers and/or fans. They make good games, but at this point in time they are not the only players who do that, so unless they start stepping up their game I'll just not get their shit.


SF2 though, it's nice that the complete version will finally see the light of day. It's kind of sad that they decided to cut out Miyu and Fay from later instalments in the series. I guess it of sorts make sense on the N64, where on cart storage was limited for voice acting, so having more characters that needed lines for various situations might not have been feasible. Still, they never got back to these characters in any of the later games either. :<

asking $80 for a glorified desk trinket full of games you already know very well, aside form star fox 2, is an even worse proposition than the dumpster fire that is the virtual console which is not portable like the switch by the fuckin way

I mean I always considered the NES/SNES Classic systems to be just plain bad. But the thing is, these are products people want and are willing to pay for. These kind of things have existed for a long time for other systems (and Nintendo systems) so obviously there is a market for them. But yeah the price point is quite a bit of a stinger, regardless of things being a bit higher quality.

I feel I'll get more fun out of using an emulator / buying a Raspberry Pi. Then just wait till someone dumps Starfox 2 for everyone to use. It's a massive pain in the arse to get these exclusives and considering their price point being high... eeeeeeeeh.

I mean from my perspective I have a good 7 or 8 games already in my library. It'd just be nice aside from Starfox 2 to obtain legit copies of all of the other games on there that I don't have, because I know they're gonna be good to cover the official-ish price tag.

Like I said on another thread on Facebook about this, if worse comes to worse regarding not getting this I'll have to go for a repro cart for SF2, but I want to do this legit and pay money for the finalized version of something that I've held in such high regard for many years.
