I did mention this earlier, but yeah, I decided to continue that less-than-stellar sprite comic of mine as an actual drawn comic, presented in a more traditional comic book format. The plot is somewhat based on those age-old stories that took place over in the Story Forums a couple boards iterations ago, but presented in a much more coherent fashion. Now, I can't draw, so I'm just writing the script for the series, while a friend provides the art, and I think it turned out pretty well.
The hand-drawn comic picks up where the sprite comic ended, and it can be read by digging a bit into the archive.

The text, and particularly the speech bubbles, ended up looking somewhat crappy, I'll try a different method on the next page.

So, what do you people think?

I dare say the drawn-version looks a lot better.

The font, unfortunately, stinks, but aside form that, it looks much better.

Hopefully this goes on for a while, maybe... (and if it involves Melvin anywhere, I should let him know too, since he was a big SF buff in the day)

The old comic doesn't totally mesh with the new one, because the Megaman sprite character became "Fighter" from FFI.

The drawn comic is...amazingly well drawn, to say the least.

Now we wait to see if the story is any good.

And yes, I know - the font sucks, and the sound effects/Moldorm's speech looks horrendous. We were going to hand-text this one, but a faulty scanner didn't allow that. This one'll probably be redone later.

Yeah, I'm neither a good artist nor a good spriter, so the only way I managed to give on of my sprites a suit of armor was to paint Mega Man's body grey. We're probably going to redo those older strips for consistancy.

As for Melvin, yeah, my plot layout has him appearing somewhere down the line, but since he didn't really interact a whole lot with Adamant and his supporting cast, he won't really be a main character. Given that the characters have currently been thrown into another dimension, there won't really be a whole lot of SF-related stuff until they get back to our world anyway.

Well, it's been a while (almost a month already? Eep), but we managed to work out the problem with the ugly speech bubbles and the horrendous font. I think you'll all agree this new style is a vast improvement.

Not in Final Fantasy, no, but it's been in several Dragon Warrior games. First appeared in DW2.

And hey - none of the attack names used in the last panel are random. Come on, they aren't THAT obscure references.

I'm afraid the colored strip isn't part of the comic - as I mentioned, this was a short "crossover" (well, main character swap) with the comic strip "The Saga of Dadaph Serraph" (which can be read here if you happen to know Norwegian - it's a great strip, warmly recommended), so the colored strip was that comic's part of the crossover.

(actually, I had absolutely nothing to do with the crossover either, it was done completely by my artist and the author of Dadaph)
