Back in the last spring of 2011, I remember doing a random search on Google for stuff related to Metroid Fusion. I don't remember what I was actually searching for but a link to the MF page on TCRF appeared so I clicked it. I was infatuated with the page and then I decided to search for more games on TCRF I had played. When I couldn't find a page on the Zelda Oracle games, I decided to start digging into those games myself and create new pages.

My first memorable step into JUL had to do with the Wind Waker. At that time, that was an up-and-coming page on TCRF. It existed and had some detail but not nearly the in depth detail that OoT or MM had. However, there was a thread on JUL, something with the title of Wind Waker Findings that was getting a lot of posts and a bunch of interesting findings were surfacing. At that time, I had recently played the game and I wanted to be in the discussion. And from there, I joined JUL. That thread and the people who posted in that thread were fun and it yielded so much for the TCRF. I swear, when that thread was still active it was like 80% of the posts on JUL.

After that thread slowed down and died, I haven't posted on JUL too too much. In terms of TCRF, I generally decided to aim my attention at more niche titles. It gave me the opportunity to work at my own pace and make a lot of unique discoveries for games that were otherwise not being looked into. More importantly, it helped to flex and improve my programming skills. Looking back, the past 5 years on these sites was really fun.

I thought it would've been something else because of twitch being such a big site.

Same, but 2009 for me.

Same for me.
I don't remember how I even discovered NSMB hacking, but before that I was hacking SMW (and almost registered at SMWCentral, but I honestly had a bad feeling as I was an overall derp when it came to ROM Hacking)
and nice to see you again m64m. I thought you disappeared.

I uploaded my first custom level on youtube and Hiccup linked me to the NSMB forums...

Wish I took more part on these forums, but I felt I just didn't fit. I guess it was due to being inexperienced for message boards, as this was my first ever message board I registered.

I've always loved video games, and making my own games was my main interest for my entire life. Sometime when I was 7 or 8, I started teaching myself QBASIC (and then VB a few years later) and I'd try to make really awful recreations of stuff I saw in games.

A few years later, my brother showed me NESticle and I was hooked. I found YY-SMB and was incredibly excited about being able to make my own custom Mario levels.

From there, I found Zophar's "facelifting" section and found the SMB2 Discombobulator, which lead me to the first incarnation, sometime after it had switched to MySQL.

SMB2 Discombobulator was great, because it was made in VB, and I could make simple stuff in VB but I wasn't mature enough to be able to handle rom hacking or any "big" programming projects.

Acmlm's Board wasn't full of people who were total lamers like literally everywhere else was, and since everyone had the same interests as me, I stuck around.

Sometime between the second and third incarnations, I drifted off to nesdev, and to different rom-hacking communities. Late in the third incarnation, Xk found me and suggested I come back, which I did, but the fourth incarnation happened soon after.

Over the years, I followed everyone until we all wound up here.

I came here after finding TCRF, thinking I had found unused content in Sanvein...which turned out to be loading screen images.

Oops.

I got my start back in 2010 here, when I joined TCRF!

It was back when I had my own Debug Modes & Unused Stuff wikia wiki. I found through GoldS, who was at the time helping out with Mega Man X stuff (thanks tons again!), when I saw he posted a Kirby's Adventure video and linked to TCRF. Curious, I popped in and hey! There it is! Then I pretty much transferred the entire wiki over because personally, I'm a horrible hacker and I just couldn't hack things by myself (which is why I decided to do a wiki format) with any skill, so I wanted to leave it open to others who do better.

Though if you want to discuss my love of interesting stuff like that, that goes even FARTHER BACK when BMF had his own site...and I actually sorta did too after making my old Game Genie Code Oddities site into some weird errata site thing...

The point is? I love this sort of thing. And you guys rock (even if I only peek my head in once in a blue moon).

I failed at finding a NSMB soundfont, and stumbled here somehow. It looked like a cool community so I joined.

I saw a post on the RX community (It's now dead btw) about the Cutting room floor, joined that, and then joined this forum.

Oh man, RX community! That rings a bell. I never went there (maybe I registered at some point), but I remember there was a slight overlap between that place and Tulunk Village, the Telefang forum, as well as maybe other places related to bootleg games. Back in like 2008.
