So as is total common knowledge, I am an NES game collector. At current count, I have 583 games.

Does this satisfy me? NO.

I have spent a good 25+ years and small fortune trying to amass a complete U.S. set. I will see this goal to the end. This is a thread in which you can help me out! I don't really have any good connections or anything like that to get some of these things, and eBay and Amazon, while great, can be hellaciously painful to acquire games for anything near my budget. However, you can help with the following;

1.) If you have a game I am looking for, and are willing to help a guy out with a reasonable price.
2.) Can point out someone or somewhere with a reasonable price for a game.

Anything you can do to help is GREATLY appreciated!

If you wish to help out without games, I made a Ko-Fi page to help out.

Thank you so much if you do help!

------------------------------------
CURRENT HIGH TICKET WANT GAME: Kid Klown in Night Mayor World
List of games I do not own yet (Source: Old Digital Press guide I printed out).

I just wanna lay down a few ground rules though. I'll try to be brief. Nobody likes a rules lawyer. D:

1.) I do care about game condition. I'm not HORRIBLY finnicky (it doesn't have to be mint) since I can fix some stuff, but I just like my games looking nice. Here's a list of what's OK and what's not OK for me:

NO
- Ripped or torn labels, or holes in the labels.
- Sun-bleached labels.
- Stickers covering the labels.
- Broken or cracked carts.
YES
- Minor peeling of the labels.
- Minor permanent marker on the label.
- Permanent marker or stickers on the cartridge area.
- Damage to the CAUTION label on the back (the one that says to not immerse in solvents, etc.) is fine. You've seen one of those things, you've seen them all. I don't give a shit about that.

2.) If it's a game that is outside my current high ticket, please be willing to hold onto it for me! Money doesn't come very quick to me and I also have rent, food, etc. to pay. I can pay, I just need time, so please be flexible.

3.) If I don't know you that well, please be willing to send the game first. This is nothing personal, I assure you, but if I'm going to be spending money on games (especially expensive ones), I don't want to get burned. Just ask any of the people around if you're iffy about this. I am a very stand-up guy and I will NOT fuck you over. Hell I'll even mail the game back to you if there's an emergency and you already sent it. I just want to protect what little extra spending money I have (and built up).

I...think that's about it honestly. Thank you so much for helping. This collection means the world to me. ;w;

Update!

Managed to score Panic Restaurant from a first-time eBay seller for $415. Pretty glad about that, the list price is so, so much higher.

If you guys see any good deals now for Bonk's Adventure, give me a hollar. I know Amazon's got it for $500, but eBay's got it for higher. I'd like to pay no more than roughly around what I paid for Panic Restaurant preferably.

I don't have it, but I did manage to find a copy on ebay for an original Nintendo World Championships grey cartridge!

That is an awesome find!

Unfortunately I'm not willing to put myself in debt like crazy just for that one. I have to concede defeat immediately. While I am a collector, I have to watch my budget even more. x.x Thank you, though!

In other news, I managed to get Bonk's Adventure for $500. Had to pay full price on it but such is life. I also FINALLY got hold of the copy of Flintstones: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak my roommate got for me. So now, I have the four really expensive games OUT OF THE WAY! This is so unbelievably awesome guys, you have no idea. ;w;

Next up: Power Blade 2! The next tier of the expensive lot.

Power Blade 2 get!

It's pretty cool, usually I don't snipe auctions but I lucked out with FOUR SECONDS and snaked a bid! I also got a bit of a deal, seeing as the game generally goes for about $400 now. I got it for $320. So I'm gonna hold off for a few weeks on the collecting to let my budget even itself out.

The count now goes up to 570! I got a few cheaper games for my birthday, including Wally Bear and the NO! Gang.

Next up...Dragon Fighter!

I have a copy of Power Blade 2...in a donor shell, because the original was half-destroyed when I bought it years ago.

Is there anything I can do to increase its value? It DOES have an original PCB inside...

Oh maaaaaaan, the only thing I could personally figure is to try to fix it up to look as good as new. If it's got an original PCB, that's at least just as good as having it to me, but I dunno what other people would think...

I guess if you were looking into selling it, state the PCB is original.

So since the last time I posted anything, I did manage to knock off Dragon Fighter and I also slurped up Wacky Races around the same time.

I'm...kind of eyeballing the Caltron 6-in-1 constantly. Honestly this damn thing confuses me. It was released in the U.S., but is an unlicensed cart and I don't know how unlicensed it is? Like, it doesn't seem like it's the same thing as something like a Tengen or Color Dreams cart so I honestly don't know how completionists feel about this one?

The price also jumps up and down like a guy on a trampoline. I can't seriously get a good gauge WHAT the price of that one is. I should probably just get this one out of the way first...

The good news is that as far as I'm aware, anything that's $250+, I now already own. The bad news is that last year was a big hit on my bank account (GEE, I WONDER WHY?!) so I've been trying to use this year to sort of build it back up.

I recently went through my big "Games I Don't Own" list and re-labeled and checked the prices on everything, as well as reduced the threshold on what constitutes an "expensive game", as it's now $70 or more. Most of this was more for if friends are helping me try to get games, but I wanted to get a gauge on what the market's like for the games I don't already have yet.

Anyway, that's another edition of "Rick's Collection News That Is Rather Irrelevant"!

Nothing really new yet. Collection's slowed down still, but digging myself out of the financial hole I was in.

I got...Sesame Street: Countdown some weeks ago for free. Last real game get sadly. I've gotten a few cheap Famicom games in the meantime though. I got about another $588 to make up before I'm back outta my hole. x.x

Or maybe if I'm lucky I'll use some birthday leverage and try to pick something up. I did win a $25 gift card to Amazon at work, but Amazon isn't always the cheapest place to get games. :X

Updated my wants list!

Kid Klown in Night Mayor World and Cowboy Kid have been...going up in price lately. I finally have some extra cash stashed aside to get ONE of these.

That being said, it's a lowball offer I completely understand, but if you want to make a fast $200-$250, I can purchase one of those games right now! All I ask is that the label is in good shape (and the cart itself isn't cracked or beat to hell).

Thanks! :3

Found Cowboy Kid for $255! Thanks, all!

UPDATE!

Finally just used my $25 Amazon gift card I won to buy the following:

1.) City Connection
2.) Dungeon Magic
3.) Fire Hawk

I'm also waiting on a friend to send me Wario's Woods once she gets it again from moving.

So, once all four of those games come in, I'll be at 590 GAMES!

The big 600 draws near! I'd like to celebrate the 600 with a big one, but I'll have to see where my finances lead me.

EDIT

Speaking of finances, I made a little donation link made for the "Rick Likes NES" NES expert thing I'm doing.

So I did a bit of Internet sleuthing and found Venice Beach Volleyball and Joe & Mac. The downside is that the front sticker does look like it was picked at a little, but aside from that the cart looks good and might come with a FuncoLand sleeve.

I also still am keeping Yoshi around in case you may want it later. It's in pretty great shape, appearance-wise, and not for some mild dirt marks I'd say it's practically mint out-of-box. Again, comes with a sleeve, but an official-looking NES type. I will admit I probably did get ripped off buying it though. While not right now, as I am going through some major stress right now, but perhaps we can work something out with it. Maybe some trading, etc.

Also, check these guys out. They were from a different booth at Fanime than the one I got Yossi from, but their booth was an extremely popular one, and they have a website. I'm sure if you contact them and mention your mission, and remind them of the lady with the Gravity Falls hat visiting them for two years running, they *might* give you a discount. Not a guarantee, but see what happens. I know they gave me a slight discount as a returning customer this year buying a GBC and Link's Awakening DX, and I bought a couple high dollar games the year before (Digimon World 2 and Monster Rancher 2). Oh, and shipping is free for orders over $20.

Edit: Santa Cruz also has an indie video game store called Level Up that sells NES games and if you want I could try hitting them up. Because I mean dang you are closing in.

I understand cash is tight ATM though, so you can take my suggestions as merely suggestions at the current moment.

Thanks for the leads, Gabu! Muchly appreciated! I'll give them more of a check out once I get some extra cash flow.

I got lucky last weekend and went to Game Underground in Natick, MA. Picked up Top Player's Tennis: Ivan & Lendl and Michael Andretti's World Grand Prix. Nothing spectacular, but they were cheap and the only two that I didn't already have in the store at the time, so I got 'em for about $15 including tax.

Still saving for Kid Klown. I probably have about $30 right now for it. The shitty thing is that I need about ten times that.

Found Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat at Sac at where else? Bit Replay. $5, but the sticker here is less than ideal. They're hanging onto it for me so I can see if you'd want it. I don't have data, so I'll PM you my phone number so you can text yay/nay on this.

Edit: imgur is a bitch. Text me and I'll send the image if it doesn't show up here.

Lucky day today!

Not only did I end up not having to work today, on the way home I went to a local game shop (local to my work) and found a really mint copy of Family Feud with manual for $9! That's probably a good 2/3 the price I've seen for it online cart-only.

#594!

Thank you again Gabu for those games as well!

Creeping ever closer to the 600 mark! Which game will it beeeeeee?
