Like the one in Vizzed Board, post your gaming opinions which are rather unpopular!

----------

For me: Ghosts multiplayer was good. Not to the extent of COD4, WAW, or BO1, but better than MW3 and the trash called Advanced Warfare. The campign is indeed shite, but MP had some interesting cool game modes (Blitz, in particuularly - upopularly I think it's one of the best COD modes ever) and maps.

My favourite COD game mode is Hardpoint (missing from Ghosts and my PS3 BO2 is broken, no one plays it on 360, so I have to go on Advanced Piece Of SHITE to play it), ANOTHER unpopular gaming opinion...

Even more! WAW, BO1 was the best COD games. Most people seemed to hate those ones at launch. Years later I love them. COD4 also the best. But that popular opinion, so no I may not put it here, perhaps.

Majora's Mask isn't a fun game.

I don't know why, but every time I play that game, I'm never grabbed by it. I've gotten halfway through it, got the Gilded Sword, over half of the masks, over half of the heart pieces, and nothing. There is no need to beat that game. I don't get it either. It SHOULD be a fun game, because it's basically Ocarina of Time with a much richer story, but it's just never made me want to beat it.

Some of the locations are pretty gorgeous though. I'd love to try my hand at recreating Clock Town in UE4.

Also, Metroid Fusion sucks.

EDIT: Also, JRPGs suck too.

I like Mega Man Wily Wars better than the originals. I can look past the differences from the NES titles and the music (which could have been a lot better, but it's okay for the most part). Mostly it's about bug fixes and general feel.

I have more fondness of the first Wario Land formula than the other games, even though it's probably just nostalgia (and the way it works makes the game easy, and the replay value is basically non-existant), but it's a shame there is no proper recreation of it to fix its problems.

Also, get ready for this cavalcade of incorrect opinions.

Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission are the two best 2D Metroids to date.

Metroid 1 has aged horribly and has barely any redeeming qualities.

Super Metroid controls awfully and is all in all lackluster and unpolished.

Skyward Sword is one of the best Zelda games, and Twilight Princess is a disgusting game that can barely reach the level of "acceptable".

Ratchet and Clank 1 is terrible, Ratchet Deadlocked is actually pretty good.

More opinions to come when I remember them, reasoning behind those opinions may or may not be given if people want them, assuming I am not to lazy to write them.

All Metroid games, excluding Other M, are at least good. Super Metroid is very good but hasn't stuck with me as much as Prime 1 has, which is actually my favorite. Fusion and Zero Mission are also quite good.

The best Zelda game is Link's Awakening, followed by Ocarina of Time. I like Majora's Mask but have yet to finish it, Twilight Princess is good but wasn't very memorable aside from Midna, Skyward Sword's art direction and character design are really nice, but its controls are garbage and turned me off the game after a couple of hours.

I actually liked Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow as a character a lot, and it was my favorite 3D Sonic game for a long time. And it's not (just) blind nostalgia: I've replayed it not too long ago, and while it hasn't aged as well as other games have, it's still a good game overall.

I don't really care for most Final Fantasy games, nor Dragon Quest for that matter. Even the supposedly great ones like FF6 or 7 - I played at least some of both but felt meh about them. Chrono Trigger was much better. The one Final Fantasy I played a lot of, and liked a lot, was Tactics Advance, with the exception of the stupid Judge/Law system.

Mario Galaxy 2 was boring and soulless compared to Mario Galaxy. It added nothing, realistically speaking.

Also, Zero Mission is a terrible game for everything past Mother Brain. Before that it's good. But the Stealth/Chozodia section is just awful and utter tripe.

Metroid Prime 2 is the best in the prime series.

Coincidentally, I find Prime 3 to be the worst. Too much panel interaction, some which you even have to SCAN FIRST! It doesn't help that a lot of panel interaction and switches have to be manually done with motion controls. All this junk adds nothing to the game aside from a lot of tedious interaction. (I can concede that as a concept, it might have worked if it was exclusive to inside samus ship to add more layers of immersion.) The game also loves to throw you between long area load times way too often, often with multiple choices and no knowledge which is the right one! (Have fun with those ship flying loading screens!) I also have some grips with the motion controls for the grappling lasso and stuff. It's not as bad as I remember it being, but it certainly is overused. (Looking at you, 8 panel removal to show a morphball tunnel in bryyo.)

I also have a pet peeve with menu interaction in that game. When I get on a save station, for example, I get a menu for what I want to do. (Save, don't save, enter ship, etc.) This menu interaction HAS to be done with the pointer. This is needless precision work, it would have been both faster and smoother if the game also allowed you to select these options using the control stick. :/

I think Sonic CD is the best Sonic game. The (Japanese) soundtrack and the art direction are the best of the series by far, in my opinion, and I find the level design and the time travel gimmick really enjoyable too.

Super Paper Mario is my favorite Paper Mario game, although I admit that it's probably an objectively worse game than the first two in the series.

I don't like any of the Castlevania games I've played, including Super Castlevania IV and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night despite being a big fan of the Metroidvania genre.

I also don't like almost all classic JRPGs, including (but not limited to) Final Fantasy VI, Secret of Mana, and Tales of Phantasia. I find both the gameplay and the story of these games to usually be uninteresting and really drawn out.

I think Hideo Kojima is a vastly overrated (albeit still good) game designer, especially with regard to the Metal Gear series.

Most of my favorite modern games are indie games. There's a certain charm to indie games that I think is lost on most major developers, so I'm more likely to enjoy an "objectively good" indie game more than an "objectively great" AAA game.

Also, I believe the artistic/narrative merit of a game can outweigh its gameplay in terms of how good of a game it is.

Streets of Rage 3 has better/more interesting music than the first two

Sonic Boom is better than Sonic Adventure

Final Fantasy VI was the only good one

I'm sure there are more bad opinions that I have about games but maybe I'll remember them when it's not first thing in the morning

I never really liked Ocarina of Time, but I don't know why. I at least find the 3DS version somewhat interesting, but not that much. I've always liked Majora's Mask way more, probably because the world just feels so much more interesting than in OoT.

Plus, I hate Final Fantasy er...oh what was it, 10? Final Fantasy 10 I think? I didn't play it but I watched someone else play it, and it feels like a severe downgrade from the normal Zelda "experience" I'm used to. I mean, I know RPGs are different, but I've played some other RPGs before (Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Sacred Gold, etc.) and all of those have a good world to explore, but this one game feels very weird in that regard. It just feels boring. It might've been only the game though, not the series. I might need to check other games in the franchise.

Edited to avoid confusion.

I am unsure if you did a big brainfart or if you genuinely expected Final Fantasy to play as Zelda.

Because if you did expect that, then no, they aren't similar at all.

And if you brainfarted, then fear not, FFX has a very divisive reaction among the fans, some hate it, some love it. I personally enjoy it a lot, but I wouldn't call that an unpopular opinion.

I think Pokémon games have gone in a wrong direction starting Gen 2 and that none of the games have topped Gen 1 in innovation and gameplay. (Gen 5 comes in second, though.) I love the games regardless.

I don't like any FPS after Duke Nukem 3D.

I don't think Tetris is a particularly good competitive puzzle game and much prefer Panel de Pon or Puyo Puyo.

I don't find early vanilla Mario games (SMB123, World) very fun. Never got very far in them.

...I don't have that many opinions after all.

Nononononono. It was just a poor choice of words. I felt like the story/aesthetics are weaker than Zelda. The gameplay is what I was comparing to Paper Mario, but honestly that's not the only example I know. Fear not, I know how RPGs are different from Zelda!

Ah yes, this. ^
I don't think Gen 1 is the best, but it was certainly the most innovative. And the core gameplay has mostly gone in the wrong direction in many ways.

Coincidentally, I also think that the pokemon community is garbage and the entire meta focus has only further ruined the series. I also think game freak have been idiots for enabling this type of scene to grow rather than go back and realise that their behind the scenes mechanics are shit. (And that competitive PvP in pokemon is shit.)

I really dig FF X RanAS. But it's one of the more slow FF games, so I can totally understand why watching a let's play of it would bore you to death. (It's even a bad prospect within the RPG genre for let's play material.)

Controversially, I actually like FF X-2. The story wasn't that great, but the gameplay was. Shame the difficulty scaling got a bit insane nearing the end.

Unpopular opinions that I have:
- Best versions of Super Mario Bros. 1, Lost Levels and 2 = Super Mario All-Stars.
- Best version of Super Mario Bros. 3 = Super Mario Advance 4.
- Super Mario World isn't THAT great for me. Like I prefer all games from Super Mario All-Stars over SMW.

- Heart of Darkness is better than Another World.
- Flashback HD isn't THAT bad, even if it has its major flaws. It does feel rushed though.
- Roll.exe > Roll Caskett > Roll Classic. I do think that's an unpopular gaming opinion.

- I kinda like Donkey Kong Country 3 more than the two others.
- I'm not sure how unpopular it is, but for me, each Smash Bros. release was better than the last one every time.
So like SSB64 < SSBM < SSBB < SSB3DS < SSBWiiU.
