My caps lock key is also broken! It works as a backspace instead of Caps Lock.

(That's actually default Colemak behavior, but I just plain don't use it.)

why do you ask? every time i press shift the text is still in lowercase, no matter what i do!

I'm not one of those so called "grammar nazis", although one of my pet peeves has always been when people use a lowercase "i" instead of an uppercase one.

Of course if your caps lock key is broken, then I suppose it can't be helped.

In my middle school years I used to be very strict on being grammatically correct in chat rooms and such, going so far as to insist that people capitalize the T in my name, or not skip out on the 2 as a lot of people would do, occasionally trying to fix other peoples's mistakes.

nowadays i just don't really care all that much
