How can I add a post background? I know it's in Edit Profile, but the pictures I put don't really go to the sample post. Do you need a post header or something?

How do you add links to words?

Examples of post headers?

So much questions! But someone's gotta know, right?

links are simple, here's an example:

<a href="the site goes here in these quotes">what the link text should be</a>

post backgrounds involve having a <style> tag and some CSS code.

if you don't really know HTML or CSS, there's prolly a few places that could teach you if you google around.

(sorry if i'm not that helpful :c )

Okay. Thank you.

One more question I forgot to put:

How do you put pictures? :|

No - this forum software (Acmlmboard) is built in PHP (in short, produces HTML).

However you can't use PHP in your posts (for obvious reasons - that is, security risks). The board software filters out custom PHP code anyway so it can't be used.

Okay, so I was able to make my font color green using HTML code, but I can't seem to apply white background color, it is applied in this post, it's not just visible.

Try this CSS in the post header:

<style type="text/css"> .nkpwhite{background-color: #FFFFFF}</style><div class="nkpwhite">

And this in the post signature:

</div>
[Insert images and text here]

I'd say black text on white background kind of clashes with most of the board themes here, but it's your choice and you could make eye-pleasing backgrounds with a white bg anyway.

Thanks, it works perfectly, though the font color blends in the background so I'm not using it now.

Next questions:
Changing font color using CSS?
And adding a background picture that works with the code?

Sorry, I'm not really into CSS formatting.

If you know the standard BBS bracketing then you can use that for images and links here too:

for images.

And

url here

for links.

Example:

http://forum.metroidconstruction.com/
This stuff works too, funkily enough.

For the text color, you can use color:#000000;

This example is the same as the previous one, except it sets the font color to black

HEADER:
<style type="text/css"> .nkpwhite{background-color: #FFFFFF; color:#000000;}</style><div class="nkpwhite">

SIGNATURE:
</div>

You can generate #000000 hex colors from the "Color Chart" link in the links bar on the top of the page.

You're welcome.

Last bit of info:
With some color combinations the link may become hard to read. To change the link color you can add:

.nkpwhite a{color:#(hex);} (Changes normal link color)
.nkpwhite a:visited{color:#(hex);} (Changes visited link color )
.nkpwhite a:hover{color:#(hex);} (Changes link color when the mouse is over the link)
.nkpwhite a:active{color:#(hex);} (Changes link color when you click on the link)

Add these before </style> (in the same line) and replace (hex) with the HTML color of choice.

Thanks for that, though I'm pretty sure my links are readable in this format.
I visited a CSS tutorial, and it actually taught me how to add a background picture! I checked the format used, copied it, but it didn't apply to my format.

Any tips?

Let's see (if I can explain this properly)

(In short: The fixed CSS is at the very bottom of the post)

First off, the body class doesn't work in Acmlmboard this way (unless you define an external CSS file, but that's another thing). You should add a dot before body, and you shouldn't use generic names for classes, since you could change a CSS property of the board.

Then, the <style> needs to be <style type="text/css"> or else it won't work.

Then, you should have added this is another way, without using two style tags, like

<style type="text/css"> .nkpwhite{background-color: #000044; color:#FF0000;} .nkpbg{background-image: http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/125/6/6/Pokeball__Free_Background__by_scribblin.png;}</style><div class="nkpwhite"><div class="nkpbg">
(text)
</div></div>

You need to call the class like <div class="[name of class]">, in this case nkpgb, that will load the background image. It won't load the class contents (in this case, the bg image) otherwise. However, the text would be unreadable and the box hidden. With some reordering this is what you could use (leaving the box colors as-is):

---Fixed CSS----

HEADER
<style type="text/css"> .nkpwhite{background-color: #000044; color:#FF0000; } .nkpbg{background: url('http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/125/6/6/Pokeball__Free_Background__by_scribblin.png'); padding: 20px;}</style><div class="nkpbg"><div class="nkpwhite">

SIGNATURE:
</div>

<div class="nkpwhite">

</div></div>

I applied that fixed CSS and changed a few things, mostly the background. This is the result.
