If I may speculate some, I think that the issues with the doors in the X4 may be related to shared assets being changed around significantly.

That is, the game loads a series of sprite data for levels into certain areas of RAM and VRAM. Although the doors may be loaded in their proper place, X4 probably has a different master object list for levels. (such as the Rockman 7 and Rockman & Forte object viewer modes have suggested).

The X4 levels probably hadn't had their object lists updated, leading to the game reading data from locations that aren't graphics data, struggling to interpret it, and either acting wildly or crashing, or as has been described, using random sprites from other things haphazardly because the original object data has been shifted around.



I'm more curious about the X5 beta's subweapons, though. A while back, for an unrelated project, I was given someone else's extensive research into Zero, and it included animation rips from X5, including what I think may be a beta F-Splasher graphic. Seems to match the atrocious art style on some enemies from this beta. Though I'm personally hoping we find an animation viewer hidden away in this beta, probably tucked away in all that odd garbage data that's at the very start of the ROCK_X5.bin file.

btw,has anyone got the timer to 00 to see what happens?

By timer to 00,u mean stage completion time?

Also,i hacked the boss level modifier for x6 original,and i think it worked,as when beaten nightmare zero it unlocked black zero,also,i think his behavior changed somewhat,like,using that huge ass slashes,anyway,i still have to hack x5's proto level modifier.

then it means they "fixed" it by accident and closed it off.
the tcrf page for the x6 proto needs some heavy updating with the new info. I now know for sure,bad sectors aren't the cause behind gate's lab 1 crashing,it could be something internal with the build.(could be missing data,as there seems to be some data,but not all,gate's lab 1 could have been in the middle of a reform by the time the proto got made,the final stages are the most incomplete part of the proto) I'll get to it and record the X5 videos(yeah,i haven't recorded them yet,i know,i'm sorry,i got lazy)

Hey guys,i'm getting the footage for the new X5 discoveries right now,i'll see if i can get a vid or two today.
EDIT: the X4 boss rooms are there,EternalSoft,in fact,there's a checkpoint for every single capsule(boss room and when you return to the hub) and even a checkpoint for the meet sigma segment(identical to X4,but there's no sigma,and when you enter the door,you die,but there's nothing there except a huge void of blackness,so it's the same thing). I was able to discover some other leftover rooms from the 2nd final level,but,the way they are here,they are quite buggy(screens don't scroll when they are supposed to).
As for weapons,i covered them up,black zero and the unused event behavior,i just need to record the remainder of the stages and their secrets and edit them,then upload them to youtube.
EDIT: excuse the incredible delay,but life got in the way: Rockman X5/Megaman X5 Prototype Unused event behavior, X's weapons and Black Zero
this encompasses the event behavior,x's weapons and black zero. Great work EternalSoft!

Edit:i didn't knew you could get tru that point on dynamo's stage,lol
EDIT2: i tried to hack more and... bang!

Also,try to change the freeze interval on cheat engine to 10,so when you freeze the camera it really freezes on position instead of going back to the player!
EDIT3:Also,note that it is pretty laggy,it doesnt seems to want to change the position if you change the value on cheat engine,it seems to work normally just when you freeze the value >.<

I've used the epsxe 1.9.25 emulator and try to access the locked stages via codes listed in the thread, but I can't match the stage list, instead being transported in the training stage, the training stage is there, uses final's zero virus stage part 1 music, sprites for ladders are a little buggy, magma dragoon has his original voice samples and when you beat him you turn back to title screen like final did

EDIT:The code in question is 300C796C 0016 (Gameshark code), on the epsxe 1.9.25 emulator. The magma dragoon has all the move patterns similar to final X5, and his boss music is missing.

cool,i dont remember having unlocked the training stage,if you could share the values to access it ,it would be appreciated.

btw,since u revived this topic,i hacked some more codes some weeks ago,like zero's weapons,but they are all the same from x4,also found a way to pause the game but its the same as x4 too but with different weapon descriptions.
here they are:

All Weapons (both X and Zero)
00AEC491 (freeze the value to 255 or FF to unlock the weapons)

Pause (if set to 1 it will restart from last checkpoint,if set to 2 it will pause the game)
00B1F301



Btw,kinda unrelated but i managed to find the pause screen on the x4 beta,and the menu is kinda glitched and u cant move the cursor and some of the weapons descriptions are misplaced, but its there already, anyways, here's the code if anyone is interested:

There're graphics of early parts equipment screen alongside Enigma/Shuttle screen text, X's body is wire-framed and far different from final - I hate if i could learn some PS1 graphic extraction...


And yes, the Falcon armor is actually named X.Wing in the placeholder just like what the official sourcebooks provided

I was just randomly playing the game on my PSP, and decided to underflow the timer once again. Will try to access different emulators on the PC if I have time.
