I swear to Celestia, I've been trying to figure this out but there's no logical conclusion (at least for me). How is experience calculated, I need my epeenpoints.

over time, though the more posts you make, the faster you get some.

If you can understand php, the code for experience is in lib/functions.php at https://github.com/Xkeeper0/jul

Yes, but members that have less posts than me have more EXP.

By what I understand by quickly skimming function.php, the more posts you make in a day, the more xp you get.

Also, you get experience every set amount of time.
This means, an inactive account from 2007 with 15 posts has more EXP than someone who has 30 posts and got there much more recently, because from 2007 to 2014 he gained enough EXP to appear to be in a higher position.

function calcexp($posts,$days){
if(@($posts/$days)>0) return floor($posts*pow($posts*$days,0.5));
elseif($posts==0) return 0;
else return 'NaN';
}

Basically, EXP = posts × ( posts × days )½

I saw some math and whipped out Mathematica on impulse. The graph certainly helps to visualize the formula. Mathematica is amazing .

Mm, yes, that does display it pretty well.

It tends to end up scaling pretty directly to post count in the end, there's only a few cases of ancientness outperforming posts...

But postcounts shouldn't really count, as the important thing should be the post quality. Before I didn't do this, and the results weren't nice.

So, I've learnt the lesson the "medium" way.

In any case I'm not an user that is able to write a long post about something, so my posts usually tend to be quite short too.
