I'm sure you've heard that WarioWare: Twisted! didn't come to europe because it contained mercury, in the tilt sensor. I emailed Nintendo UK and they said it doesn't. Has anybody ever opened up a cartridge and checked? I know TCRF doesn't do regional differences of physical stuff like box art. But this could be an exception, as it hasn't been answered for years after it's release.

Let me say this straight out, I can't confirm or deny what you say. However, what you say sounds like a rumor or speculation. The game was made back in 2004. The health effects of mercury are well known and should have been known at the time.
I think it would be bat shit crazy for Nintendo to put mercury in a game cart which kids could potentially play. I mean, if the cart ever leaked the mercury and harmed someone, there would be serious lawsuits. I can't imagine Nintendo would overlook that. I mean, look at them today. They advertise that the 3D feature of the 3DS should only be used by people 7 and up because it might be harmful for a younger audience even though there is evidence to the contrary. Plus, how do you explain the game getting released in other regions (JP, NA and AUS)? Am I suppose to believe 3 other regions didn't care the cart contained mercury and potential lawsuits if the cart leaked?
Like I said, I'm only making an educated guess so I could be wrong. If you take Nintendo seriously then the carts don't contain mercury. If you don't believe that then you could crack open a game cart yourself and check.

People thought this was related to the gyration sensor inside the cartridge. And well, the European cartridge of Yoshi's Universal Gravitation does indeed look different - though I don't know whether the inner parts were different.
Anyway, Wario Ware Twisted was delayed for so long that the final releasedate was canned. By then, the DS had been out for almost a year. |
