lately in my design, i’ve been using Times New Roman + Futura. i actually hate Frutiger now and only use it to mock tech “humanistic interfaces” UX, circa 2007. thx, Apple, Microsoft and Adobe.

I am genuinely surprised anybody likes Times New Roman, but I guess it isn't so bad now that there's proper anti-aliasing on it and it isn't Generic Internet Font any more.

I don't like Helvetica. (for whatever reason)

Helvetica is Bad.



Lately I've grown a little attached to Input, mostly since it's customizable so I can make it look like Monaco and be a specific width/thickness. Good for code.

I like Trebuchet MS because they use it for the London Underground signs.

Also, the Hey Arnold! logo font, I guess.

Two fonts that I've recently discovered and liked are Roboto and Merriweather, specially the latter (even though I generally don't like serif fonts).



I find Roboto better for standard basic web things and Merriweather better for more natural/landscape-ish things, which I guess makes sense.

I use saxMono in my IRC client, looks nice enough.

Other than that, Arial and Verdana are also nice (because they're used by Acmlmboards? maybe)...

Speaking of Helvetica... on Windows, Firefox aliases Helvetica to Arial.


I like Arial (probably partly because of the use in early Acmlmboards, heh), although it can get hard to read, it's thin. Verdana makes things easier to read but also takes more space as a consequence.


I found Jura Light a while ago and it's a nice font imo. Example here.

Since this topic is near the top and I feel like actually mentioning it. Ever since Ninji showed me ProFont* I have converted practically all my terminals everywhere and text-oriented programs to using it. SO PRETTY.

It's like a really shiny terminal font. So nice.

i'm getting bored of TNR now as more vaporwave influences have been picked up in design.

lately i've been idolizing Roboto. it's a godsend of a font. i'm trying to pretend Google has nothing to do w/ it.

You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
