Apparently, my favorite tile editor doesn't want to work properly in OSX Mavericks.
Mavericks does not come with Java pre-installed, so you must install it manually through software update. Tile Molester worked fine in 10.8 on which I had an older version of Java (I think?) but now that I installed Mavericks, I'm screwed. No Java = no Tile Molester. Install Java = broken Tile Molester. UGH.
Does anyone have a clue how to install earlier versions of Java on Mavericks?

The official Java archive download page doesn't offer any downloads for OSX.

Everything else seems to work fine but as soon as I navigate the ROM, the view gets blown up to like 400%. Some kind of a displaying issue.

Best thing I can suggest for now. Apple does have updates for Java, although I'm sure there needs to be a bit of trickery to get it working with OS X 10.9.

Someone at Stack Overflow has actually asked a similar question, on how to install a working version of Java under OSX 10.9

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19533528/installing-java-on-os-x-10-9-mavericks

Considering it points to the same URL, and Java worked for him, I'd say it's a safe bet it'll work with no extra tricks.

Well, two things:
-A friend of mine who has pretty much exactly the same specs (OS, computer and Java) as I did, does not have the zoom bug
-I installed JDE, which forces the installation of JRE 1.7.0_45. Previously I had 1.6 something. This did not fix the issue

Apparently, a complete reinstallation of Java is not possible/wise.
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong and how I can continue. Searching 'Tile Molester and Mavericks' on Google brings this thread as the top result, so I guess if anyone else is having the same issue, they're welcome to ponder it in this thread.
The only solution I can think of, which is very far-fetched, is to someone review the tm source code and make a version with rewritten graphics displaying code and the fixes brought by the very recent unofficial version.
