I've found that the best way to protest Google's forcing Google+ down peoples' throats is to just set your Google+ tagline to "google+ sux"

My "primary" YouTube actually uses a G+ page I generated for "Madness Ore" (which is just my tumblog's name) so it doesn't really use my name. Not that Google really has it anyway. That's a getaround, essentially to make a puppet ID (where almost all your settings and history gets shoved to when you do it anyway).

But, thinking a bit on it, for a company that got pissed at FB for "screwing up" privacy, it sure is surprising how everything FB allows you to hide G+ refuses to let you hide.

Well, the fact you can just click once to show all the "comment reply chain" is good overall.

I forgot the character limit doesn't exist anymore.

You may accidentaly press "Show comment" and Woo Hoo, you got to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page.

Now you can even put links in comments. There was one comment in fact which looked like spam, but once you click "Show more" it says: "This could have been spam or a link to a virus." Yeah...

I'm signing the petition RIGHT NOW. Youtube was fun when there were idiots in the comment section . It's not with pointless discussions nobody cares about.
Where are all the comments which received many thumbs up now? Where's the fun now?

I now seem to lack the ability to reply to comments, even though I'm logged in. Good god, Google. Get out already.

Yeah I can't seem to reply to comments that are older than 5 days. That sucks terribly.

I wonder how far google is going to keep making people bend over. I also wonder if people will actually get fed up using youtube because of how often they make changes to the site. I wish that there was a decent alternative to YT. The only one I can think of is daily motion but Google really does have a monopoly on YT. There isn't much competition. If TCRF could embed/allow videos from daily motion, I think I would consider switching over and let my YT account rot/dissolve along with deleting my G+ account. Like I said, something else to manage that I don't want to manage.

Let Tourettes Guy speak for me on what I think of this new comment system is...

Wierd. I thought there was embed code for DailyMotion videos like in Youtube.
Maybe I'm just confusing things.

YouTube, getting worse and worse since April 2006.

For the record, signing petitions does jack shit, if you want to affect it make it viral or something on twitter, etc and that will generate some bad PR; At least they care about that.

But then again, this is google so I doubt even THAT helps. :/

I think there is. I think I could embed videos into TCRF (although I haven't tried it). However, I don't know if the admins would like that or how they would feel about it. I don't want to go create an account if they don't want dailymotion videos on the site in the first place. I should ask and see what they say.

That's pretty spot on. I don't really feel petitions do anything either. Especially in this scenario. Google knows that YT is a monopoly since so many people use it compared to other video sites. Since most people are probably not going to leave YT regardless of changes made to the site, I doubt that Google will give a damn. If there was competition against YT then they might hear people out.

There are some petitions online to restore the original comment system... but we will see if they work. (hidden comment: I hate to sound pessimistic...)

I know it won't probably work, but signing a petition doesn't hurt anyone.

I never said it would hurt. I just said that Google will probably ignore it anyway. I'm not purposefully trying to prevent people from signing them. I'm just stating what I think will likely happen. Trust me, I'd be very happy if I was wrong.

But yeah, if you want to sign them, go for it.

Maybe I'm not seeing the right link or something, but when I see a comment that is in reply to another comment, if I click the text for "in reply to ___" it takes me to the page of the video I'm on, essentially refreshing the page and losing my spot in the video.

You might want to opt out of this immediately, unless you don't mind your name and picture to be used in advertisments.

Google can go fuck right off.

I was on the beta boat for g+ and I really liked it
strong privacy settings and a minimalist interface

all it needed was people and it would have been great

so I waited for the beta to end and checked back
still not a lot of people

forgot about it and checked back forever later

like four people had made google+ accounts

the youtube connection is like a push to fix g+'s people problem

I get where they are coming from too,

on one side is an empty and abandoned site
and another is not profitable and yet full of people

in the end the changes don't really seem all too surprising

I completely understand what you mean krutomisi, it makes sense from a corporate perspective for them to pull this lame stunt, although of course it still really sucks for us. Having this extra Google+ account floating around out there that I never plan to use it just a pain, and I really hate the way that notifications work now, what was wrong with things just going to my inbox?

I also hate the fact that it always shows "Top Comments" by default now, rather than the newest ones. You can't even upvote or downvote comments anymore so I'm not entirely sure what determines which ones are chosen. In most cases the top comments are the dumb things that used to get upvoted before, except now you get a whole page of them instead of just one or two.

Welp, a video which shows everything that's wrong with YouTube? IT MUST BE PRESERVED... except oops...

Good luck finding a working copy that doesn't lead to a malware!

The comments on the video... oh geez. Stupid ones, good ones, and then this:
Spoiler:
GUYS!

We're not going to win this through the way we're acting right now if we want to revert the comments section to its original state. There's a better way we can do this!

The only way we'll be heard is that if we get our shit together and unify our voices instead of posting spam repeating the same phrase over and over again, screaming "FUCK GOOGLE", calling people "google employees", linking people to screamers, and making ASCII dicks.

The only way how I can see this being possible is that you copy/paste this comment of the list of things wrong with this update, the videos protesting the update, and the petition calling for the change.

These are the major problems with the Google+ integration:

-Can't vote or even respond to some comments

-Timestamps don't work

-Need to refresh page after watching video to replay it

-Need to open new tab to see the original comment of a response prior to update

-No more top rated comments

-No inbox

-Always notified if a person responds to a comment you responded to (even if it isn't
directed to you)

-Unlimited character/expand comment = spam, ASCII, links to screamers and viruses

-Top comments always on default setting

-Forced to make a Google+ account with your full name just to interact with others

-Faulty spam filter

-Author can no longer comment and have it top listed

-Original commenter can now block replies and ratings to his comment

Here are some of the videos protesting the update:
http://youtu.be/bEWR2-zcAtM
http://youtu.be/6L_m8AzSPCM
http://youtu.be/LTq8TrA3hb4
http://youtu.be/7JsfEOi0A8E
http://youtu.be/9u6Bfnq3aZk
And this is the petition:
https://www.change.org/petitions/google-change-the-youtube-comment-section-back-to-its-original-form

If we can do this together, then we’ll have a fighting chance and get what we want; but only if you upvote this comment and post this on every video you visit!

(if you want to add any more issues and/or videos; then feel free to do so.)

I personally don't know what to say, but "copypasta incitation" aside, it shows every bug on this new comment system. I'm standing neutral for this.

I still hate the new comment system.

copying pasta that crap all over isn't going to make a difference
and I personally don't foresee the g+ integration ever going away

they'll prob fix some of the more broken features
but like since when has youtube, facebook or anything else removed an unwanted UI update
