I'm not going to lie when I say that this is a real crazy-ass thing to do, and such a brash decision after watching a single documentary just two hours ago, but I would like to see what a full month of such a diet can do. I mean I found it to be very interesting and informative (and according to the Wikipedia page, no logic holes) but I seriously want to see if its for real and not going into hyperbole with its claims. I mean, I still fucking love meat and dairy and processed shit foods, not gonna lie, and I doubt humanity is ever going to quit meat and become vegan, but it is true that meat, dairy and processed shit foods are pretty fatty and take a lot of energy to produce.

So what does this mean?
-No meat, or at least as very little meat as possible. In essence, a treat to be indulged in once or twice a month.
-No dairy. Again, though, think of it as a once or twice a month treat.
-No processed shit foods (energy drinks, processed snack foods, soda, etc.) Bonus points for you if abstained for a whole month.

I guess you can start whenever you feel like it, but for the sake of having a definitive yardstick and my relatively short interest-span, try to go for the entirety of October?

The goal is to see whether or not A) you feel healthier, B) you lose weight, C) (if you happen to have a doctor visit next month or so) if you actually are healthier. More bonus points if D) Maintain this diet for six months

For those who are dirt poor/live with close-minded family who is also dirt poor and/or dickwads, try your best? I mean at least cut out sugary drinks and see what happens. Unlike the doctor in said documentary I'm not gonna be militarily anti-meat, anti-dairy.

Essentially, I want to humor the documentary, and maybe hypothetically feed a hypothetically starving hypothetically African hypothetical child... hypothetically... while I'm at it.

Share results here?

idk i'm hungry right now

I sort of did this because I was poor (sort of) and I don't like sugary drinks anyway. So I spent about a year when I was living alone in PA working and not going to school almost always just eating this way (though there was some meat, mostly eggs, but very little). Definitely very little processed crap (I guess things I wasn't aware of being processed) and very little dairy... The main thing is I lost weight significantly without feeling unhealthy, but I also didn't feel like my body was super healthy I guess.

Once I went back to college and started eating at the cafeteria every day, I gained about 25 pounds (now I look "right", as opposed to ultra thin before). I don't feel less healthy though.

I started this (well, something very similar to this) in July. Prior to that, I had been drinking about two cans of soda a day and eating fast food about three times a week. I wasn't fat, nor have I ever been, but I felt like absolute shit and I was pretty much convinced I needed to change my eating habits. I ended up cutting out soda immediately, as well as red meat (still ate lean chicken) and pretty much stuck to pineapples and whole grains for that month. Ended up feeling so much less fatigued and my self-esteem shot through the roof. I attempted to drink a soda in August to "celebrate", but I couldn't even swallow it.

Still going strong now, although I've found myself drifting back to fast food once a week or so. Either way, if one can actually maintain a diet like this, they're almost certain to lose weight and feel healthier.

I almost never eat fast food, and when I do, it is usually the healthier fast food places that I eat at, such as Subway or Wendy's. I am also primarly a water-drinker, instead of a soda-drinker. Especially since I am a type 2 diabetic for life, a healthy diet and exercise is paramount to my health and survival. However, I am having problems maintaining my blood sugars (they are usually over 300, which is bad, and sometimes "HI" on the glucometer, ie >600), due to occasionally eating sugary/carby things that I shouldn't and stress, and am unable to find time to exercise, due to being a Rez college student, a computer nerd, and lack of time. McDonald's and BurgerKing are absolute no-nos for me; you don't know how many times I've seen my ex-mother goto the hospital (literally almost every year) due to her eating McD's & BK and her sugars being "HI". Even their salads have sugar and are unhealhty, WTF. Ever watched the movie "SuperSize Me" during Middle School?

Unfortunately, I have been drinking a lot of caffeinated diet soda lately (2-3 diet sodas a day), due to being a poor college student, college stress, and the need to stay up later at night in order to finish work. I've noticed that I am getting really fat fast, losing tons of sleep, and getting bloodshot eyes, compared to when I drank less soda and ate healthier...

I agree with SNN on the benefits on consuming less "processed shit." As for the first 2 components of the diet, IDK.

I'd block off some time to watch Forks Over Knives in that case. It does put up a lot of strong arguments that more or less veganism is great for the health and does imply other perks.

Though personally it wouldn't hurt if anyone had a burger a couple times a year.

(though I was kinda mentally screaming when the dude being put on the diet by that doctor was taken off his meds right away I mean for God's sake wait a few weeks?)

Out of the three points in the OP I only agree with the last one.
There nothing wrong with meat, It should be eaten in moderation (like everything else).
If you try to lose weight there are plenty of low cal. chicken breast/fish/turkey that you can eat, You need the protein and iron.
Dairy isn't that bad either (as long as you're not lactose intolerant or something obviously), watch out for fat milk products, drink milk.
Avoiding processed food is great, You should completely avoid soft drinks (try it for a month, Thank me later), Drink water.
Avoid junk food completely.
Try to diversify the kinds of food that you eat, Add nuts, fresh fish, etc...
