A bunch of us have been getting into photography lately so if you have any groovy photos to share, do so here! They can be from Instagram or whatever. Feel free to share your Instagram, too!

I don't know the first thing about photography (I'm the music guy art-wise, seriously), but I still thought I'd comment that I really love the first and last ones you posted - the dam and the train (both taken from a high angle (?)).

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of equipment do you use for taking these, and how much effort goes into each one? They're all very nice.

Thanks mostly to Sofi's devious influence, I too have an Instagram page, oh no...

Here is a small selection of some pictures I took that I happened to like- all mine are taken with an iPhone 4.

Thank you so much!

I actually use really basic equipment for my photography. It’s all taken on my Droid Razr M phone through an app called Camera ZOOM FX. My process is not really all that exciting and it’s usually just the result of me keeping an eye out for things that could be interesting or fun to capture.

When I’m out picture-shooting, I think about things like what sort of viewpoint I want, how I want the picture to be framed/composed and what I want my picture to convey. Lately, because I just relocated to a new city, it’s been about how wonderful I find my surroundings to be and what sort of interesting or new ways I can show them that other people may not have seen before.

I’ve taken a bunch of fun pictures already with my phone (if you look on my Instagram, there are currently over 900 photographs and for each photograph that gets uploaded there’s probably at least ten that don’t make the cut) and I’m reaching the point where I feel the limitations of a camera phone instead of a real camera. Like, I’m starting to find details that I want to capture but can’t and that’s starting to be really frustrating. Like, I really wish I could control things like shutter speed since motion blur seems fun to play with.

Currently, I have something of an unofficial mini-project where I’m trying to find the best view of Mount Rainier within Seattle so I’ve been taking lots and lost of pictures facing southeast with the mountain is looming over off in the distance.

If you ever do go for a full scale Camera I have to make the suggestion of the Canon 600D/Rebel T3i. It may be expensive but it's a non-flimsy body so it can take anything you may (accidentally) throw at it and has all the features of a DSLR and then some.

I need to pull some of the trip photos from our coast run and see if I want to share any here

I've seriously considered it! It may just end up being my next "big purchase". That or its successor, the Canon EOS 650D?

You know, my mom actually had a 650D for a long time, but she despised it and said she wouldn't buy from Canon again. I'll ask her exactly why and share it with you guys, I guess; it looks like a good camera.

(I'm going to try this soon!)

From what other friends of mine say the 650 is 'flimsy' (as in, the casing is weak/they cut corners in its production). But not having messed with it myself I couldn't say for or against. I do know for certain the 600D is a good one though.

I ended up getting the Nikon d5200 actually which I'm really happy with except I'm not a huge fan of the ViewMaster. Otherwise, it's really groovy. I've been taking lots of pics.

It's awesome to have the freedom to control things like focus, shutter speed, etc. but adjusting to the new equipment is difficult. But still, I'm having a lot of fun!

"Reviving" this thread.

I own an "old" NIKON COOLPIX L3, which is okay for me,and I use it whether I have to go to an important place.
However it shuts down when the battery is not even close to drain. This means that if that happens I need to switch it on every time I do a photo.
Otherwise I use my SAMSUNG Smartphone, which has the worst touchscreen ever devised by men.
Well, I took some photos on the trip to Sappada.

NOT A WARNING ANYMORE : Not Huge Images

------------
As a bonus, here is something literally on the road which generally bugged me out for some days.

In the words of Dr. Ashens: Yin Yang symbol drawn incorrectly.
I don't know why, but it's not quite easy to see it here.

This one was taken with my SAMSUNG Smartphone.

BUMP!

I don't really know why, but for some reason I really like this place...

The "Color depth tree" thread started with a photo like this. :/

Also, what's going on in this picture?

Who knows.

Everything here.

I have a bunch of photos that I took in the past few weeks that I never did post-process yet into JPGs that I might upload soon. Also, dealing with this stuff is kind of annoying with iPhoto since I have to essentially export the images that I want to process first before doing anything. Also, the camera import functionality seems to be geared towards people who take photos and then apply an event to either all items imported, or just the first split event, not even letting me add in names to the rest of the split events.

Oh doody!

I hate you fog... ruining what would have been a good photo taken from the 12th floor.

 photo Foto0507_zps0cf05d47.jpg

There's also another one, but its quality is even worse, so there would be no point in trowing here its thumbnail.

hi friends, i took a new pic. this is my friend Chema, we shot this just after sunset. i had two friends there as assistants, one holding an umbrella softlighter to the right on a ladder and one to the left far back holding a bare strobe.

i took this w/ the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 and two Flashpoint strobes. i dragged the shutter to expose the background. it was cold. i’ll probably shoot w/ them all again soon b/c this was an awesome experience.

hope you’re all taking photos still. let’s see what you got.

glad you all enjoyed this one!

that’s a sick photo, maple. tbh photograhy is all about lucky shots anyway, ultimately. i think you caught a great moment.

besides, i’m a big proponent of shooting w/ whatever you have. i only take out my full frame dSLR when clients ask for it.

for example, just picked up this camera off Craigslist—it turns 10 years old this year! i’m rly excited to shoot w/ it and a friend wants to do a shoot next week, so i’ll probably use it.
