Sickening.

So, in short.. They're murdering people who support a democratically elected government, using years-old pictures to try and claim that this last ballot set is being burned (it isn't), attacking medical centers and Cuban medical staff, and attacking the private homes of state officials, among other things.

This is all because they lost a fair election (and are refusing to go through the "Regular" methods of requesting a recount)? That's pretty sad.

For those who don't know, the elected government is socialist and the defeated opposition is capitalist, with very strong ties to the Venezuelan elite and to US and corporate backers. It's not inaccurate to say that it was "the people" versus "big money" here, and "big money" lost.

Venezuela is in the middle of a revolution (the "Bolivarian Revolution"). In essence, the democratically elected ruling party is transitioning, or at least trying to transition, their economic and governmental systems to Bolivarianism.

The key part of Bolivarianism that is causing problems is the tenet of anti-imperialism, since it comes into direct conflict with the US' imperialist economic policies (see: wars in the middle east, instillation of pro-US governments, etc)

This is kind of annoying, but yeah ... we have to find something to spend our ludicrous defense budget on!

We're doing even more in Asia ...
