Yeah, one thing that bugs me about Y is the movement. The rollerskates are slippery as hell, and it's hard to do anything with precision when wearing them. I'd use the D-Pad, but that's basically cramp city (plus I spend more time walking around an NPC indoors due to shitty controls than I do actually talking to them, which is ridiculous ). I would've preferred 360 degree walking/running movement on the circle pad, and just have the bike as a key item.

The other problem I have is the horrendous 3D implementation. I would actually like to use the 3D fairly often, but I can stand seeing the framerate halved almost every time I turn it on.

The new EXP. Share is awesome for me, cause in the past my team was basically an overleveled starter and a bunch of HM slaves/cannon fodder while I healed my starter. Now I can actually have a fairly well-balanced team of Pokemon!

Can not stand this. They shouldn't have forced rollerskates to circle pad.

lol I saved and loaded in there a couple of times with no issue

it's gotta be something in the city but it isn't the whole thing that's for sure

also I ain't gonna lie I love how the rollerskates control
it's like it isn't boring grid movement

if you really need precision use the bike it's still a thing

Come on Nintendo, get your act together. There is nothing worse than pouring time into a game just to have it taken away by some unforeseen flaw. Worrying about these stupid glitches takes some of the fun out of the gameplay in the best case and in the worst case they make you stop playing the game.

Do remember we're talking about the developers that gave us Red/Blue: One of the buggiest games of all time where the number of programming glitches accessible to the player number in the hundreds (to thousands?). Every generation of Pokemon has had some really dumb glitches/oversight/flaw that messes something up. When a game is as popular as pokemon with millions of eyeballs on it, they'll just be discovered faster.

See:
The Laundry List that is RBY
Celebi Egg Glitch (GSC)
Berry Glitch (RS)
Thunderbolt Sound Glitch (FrLg)
RNG Seeding Glitch (E)
Pomeg Berry Glitch (E)
Surf outside the Walls (DP)
Ditto Glitch (DP)
Sky Drop Glitch (BW/BW2) - I'd like to note this one is special because Nintendo themselves had to ban this move from their tournaments.

There's more, but to say that Game Freak are a paragon of programming excellence without a history of game-breaking or dangerous bugs in their games is definitely not true. They're basically the Bethesda of Nintendo consoles.
I do understand that, any game, is going to have glitches in it no matter how much time and money is put into trying to find and fix said bugs. I mean, once a game is released, it will be played a magnitude more times and by more people then it ever would have in development. However, that doesn't alleviate the responsibility of the developer to try to find and fix those glitches. I can give some leeway. I understand that some glitches can be really specific and tricky to pull off to begin with where it requires the player to consciously know about the glitch. However, simply saving in a city and getting what appears to be a corrupt game file isn't acceptable to me. That is literally something ANYONE can do and on a whim. Perhaps there is more involved to this glitch than just saving in the city but I still think it is ridiculous that it exists. Perhaps that is just my point of view.

I've saved in Lumiose City a fair number of times without any problems as well. It's not a simple matter of saving in the city that triggers the error.

Maybe make sure you have all the facts before deeming something unacceptable?

I'll say it again, if simply saving in a city gets what appears to be a corrupt game file then it isn't acceptable to me and I don't see why that should get a pass in any situation. However, it looks like that isn't the exact case as some people have mentioned. It appears that whatever causes the glitch is deeper than just that. From the way the glitch was explained/advertised, it made it seem that simply saving in that city corrupted the game.

I guess the real fun starts in figuring out under what conditions the glitch occurs.

It's hardly fair to bash on OoT for being glitchy. It's not like some games where ridiculous "how could they not catch that" bugs occur during normal play and interfere with just trying to play the game. Most of OoT's glitches require precision to exploit. They're not something you could just find by accident if you didn't know about them. Also, most of the clipping bugs are just a natural, unavoidable side effect of the fact that video games are only a crude approximation of a real physical simulation. There are always going to be imperfections, because fixing them would be impractical and the "correct" method would take too much processing power.

Compared to games that can be broken by just saving in a certain spot or entering a certain room, OoT seems pretty solid. (Remember Diamond/Pearl also had a glitch where going upstairs in a certain Pokémon Center would get you trapped?)

What glitch is this? I haven't heard of it before, but I always felt like ever since generation 3, Pokémon games have had fairly poor RNG. (3 was definitely much worse than the others, but it still seems a bit off in later versions.) It seems to get stuck in cycles, where you'll get the same encounter many times in a row, or miss 7 times in a row, etc.

What's supposed to happen is that when you start the game in the Generation 3 games, the frame counter is supposed to be used to seed the RNG. Instead, in Emerald the initial RNG seed is always zero. As such it has an incredibly easily exploitable RNG to be used and was noted even by people not savvy with RNG understanding that it was giving them the same pokemon all the time.

Does anyone have a Psychic or Fairy type friend safari? I'm on the hunt for a shiny Kirlia and I know for a fact that Friend Safaris boost the rate of shinies appearing significantly.

My FC is 2165-6125-9500. My friend safari type is fire, it has Ninetales, Larvesta and Magmar.

I got a copy of X for my birthday!

The EU 3DS I am playing it on has the friend code 1864-8755-3368. Can't register anyone right now because the 3DS can't access the internet where I am posting from, but *shrug*. Tell me and I'll register people when I am at home. No idea what type my safari is, I've only gotten to the second Gym.
