Yeah, I import from the US this generation.

If you do, that'd be super swell (but don't specifically go out of your way).

It's not a problem. I take a walk on almost all of my days off out of habit, so I'll have it for you tomorrow afternoon hopefully.

I only played Alpha Sapphire for an hour or two yesterday because Super Smash Bros. was delivered in the same box (hooray for Amazon Prime delivering on release day). But what I did see made me happy.
  • Rustling grass makes a return, though the Pokémon that appear seem to be the same as the ones that normally appear on the route. However, what's new is that Pokémon you encounter this way will be sporting an egg move.
  • The PokéNav Plus sports various features not unlike the Pokétch, or really what the Poké Gear was trying to be. The PSS/Super Training/Pokémon Amie thing is only one of the apps, with the map being another and yet another that shows you which Pokémon are available on a route (and which ones you've captured).
  • The Circle Pad made you go faster in X/Y when you get the Roller Skates, but in ΩR/αS, they make you tiptoe real slowly (which you need to do to sneak up on rustling grass). This can be nice, since you start out with Running Shoes, and it drastically reduces the encounter rate when moving around.
  • The presentation is a bit better. Camera transitions are smoother, and the UI has a crisp, abstract feel to it. The only thing I found jarring was that little flag that sticks in from the side of a screen when a Pokémon's ability activates in battle. In the Blacks/Whites and X/Y, this was a sort of pointed, almost sticky-note looking shape. In ΩR/αS, it's... hard to explain. Lots of little squares. Doesn't really look that great.
  • Marill no longer appears on Route 104. This did not make me happy. Thank goodness for DexNav telling me that, or I'd have been there for hours wondering why it never appeared.
  • They sped up the Badge-awarding animation after defeating a Gym Leader. Now, rather than seeing the front for a split second and staring at the back of the 3D model for the rest of the jingle, it spins back around to the front before the music ends.

EDIT:
Potion festivals. That's my trendy phrase. Potion festivals.
__________

EDIT 2:
So the rustling grass/rippling water/dust clouds business doesn't seem relegated only to egg moves. I caught a Slugma that knew Incinerate, which is in fact a TM move. A sign also told me (I'm a very trusting individual) that one might encounter a Pokémon with its Hidden Ability this way. In other words, it's Game Freak's way of saying "Please, I know you can just use Pokémon Bank, but could you at least still try to catch them the regular way?"

So heeeeeey, did you know that Rayquaza can one-shot Deoxys? Yeah, neither did I. On the bright side, I'm super stoked to learn that it's no longer an event-exclusive Pokémon.

EDIT:
If you're wondering why I bothered to censor it, it's because the game and post-game really are just epic. X and Y, that wasn't epic. Black and White, that was a good step in the right direction. But I'm glad I didn't know what to expect, so hey, take a moment to enjoy it for yourself.

The internet is still playing catch-up when it comes to documentation, but the actual Move Tutor associations in the game data have been dumped. While that text document is certainly helpful on a per-Pokémon basis, I found it just a mite lacking and took my mad programming skills after it to produce a sorted spreadsheet:

For Omega Ruby, I wanted to start with some Pokémon you're not really intended to start with, but I couldn't decide, so I rolled a random number. I didn't want to have to wait until, like, level 40 to evolve, and I didn't want any legendaries or Hoenn natives.

So a couple rolls later turned up 426, which is Drifblim. I like that one, but I had a Flare Boost Drifloon from Pokémon Dream Radar as my main in Black 2, so I had to skip it. The next viable candidate was 188, Skiploom. I chanced my way into setting out on an adventure with my trusty partner... Hoppip.

Stat-wise, Hoppip is rather near the bottom of the barrel, squeezed in between Marill and Slugma. The only move it natively knows upon hatching is Splash, which isn't exactly the best choice for taking down Gym challenges. So I bred some egg moves onto it: Amnesia, Double Edge, Confusion and Seed Bomb. And honestly, with some actual moves, Hoppip really isn't that bad. It hits harder than I expected it would.

Further adding insult to injury, I decided to make it an outsider, rather than hatch it in Omega Ruby. I still had a friend help me trade over a Lucky Egg, though. I figure if it's going to be defiant, it at least won't get itself killed. Roxanne had other plans. But that's through now, and after work I'll be heading to Dewford. That should be less painful.

I'm ever so slightly inspired to cherry pick all the starter-friendly Pokémon available and program a randomizer for others to enjoy. What about you guys, ever ran a game with the wrong starter? Need help getting one set up?

one time played a mod of diamond/pearl that had replaced all three starters
treeko was avi as one so I took that one

it was one that boosted the difficulty (gym leaders all have six pokes and such)

it was a struggle cause I had done all trainer battles and was still losing to the leaders
went and grinded treeko up so it would evolve and get leaf blade

uuh so that is the generation that took away leaf blade when it evolves

haven't played that mod again basically

My SoulSilver run had my Totodile replaced as soon as possible with a Shellder from the PokeWalker. It worked pretty well, Skill Link made Icicle Fall Spear a viable ice attack early on, and the high defense helped a lot in the early game as well. Later on, her offense was a bit deficient though.

Never quite finished that run, actually...

The post-Roxanne game is going pretty smoothly with an Outsider. I still have to reign in the Exp. gain on the now Jumpluff to keep it from getting ahead of my Badge level, but that got easier once I bought a Luck Incense and passed the Lucky Egg over to the Mightyena.

I started a new spreadsheet to prepare some data for every eligible starter Pokémon. That is to say, anything you can hatch. While filling out the column for "final evolution's base stat total", I came to realize that across the board, Pokémon are pretty good. The ones I traditionally perceived as "weak" tend to be more because of the moveset than the stats, and that's especially evident of the lowly Hoppip once I started using Double-Edge in battle. It's actually quite battle-capable, but through normal gameplay, the only moves it learns before evolving are Splash, some status moves, Tackle and Fairy Wind.

Now it's a Jumpluff with Double-Edge.

Is there anyone here with X/Y who haven't redeemed a Diancie yet?

I have a US code and i'm trying to get it to my friend's ORAS, but it isn't redeemable in ORAS and a file can only redeem one diancie code (and I already have).

So i'm looking for someone to redeem the code, then trade the diancie to me.

I swapped out the Normal Gem it was holding for a Lucky Egg. If it really means that much to you, I can give you the Normal Gem back... But I imagine you might not mind.

A Diancie with a Lucky Egg traded for a Zigzagoon in an Ultra Ball. Sounds like a fair trade to me.

The game's been out for a short while, yet not a single Secret Base QR code's been shared in this thread!?

...Well, mine isn't really ready either, I wanna make a fun base (with themed team to battle) first, but people have been generous enough to make Healing Wish Blissey bases for easy levelling so here's a lot of QR codes anyways. You can also get secret bases just from going online with the BuzzNav activated, and it somewhat commonly adds your friends' bases first if they're also online.

EDIT - Just reached 1000 flags and got to platinum rank, so to celebrate I made a secret base team with shinies that I like. If you challenge me they're added to your Pokedex, and I tend to update my base with a Blissey team so you might want to keep my base anyways, so here.

EDIT2- I was tired of low-quality pictures so I recreated the three devs' QR codes pixel by pixel. It's Masuda, Ohmori and Morimoto, and if you talk to Ohmori he gives a special Regice doll. (Sadly, the other two Regi dolls aren't available without cheating.)

If anyone has a Japanese game and is able to recreate the text on the card, could they send me images of it? Here's the original picture.
