I went and saw this at the theatre today.

Spoiler:
It was pretty formulaic, but the writing was still very tight and a lot of the plot threads, even the ones that seemed quite all-wrapped-up, came together quite well. The details put into the plot were well thought-out and meshed smoothly.

That said, some of the cameos seemed awkward, especially the Konami Code and NES controller in Sugar Rush. They probably would have been better-used as graffiti in the train station - and on that note, Leroy Jenkins! Placing that one next to Hero's Doody was great, especially with how Ralph acts. The credits sequence was clever, and the long pixel-art montage of the different parts of the game was impressive.

Of course, nothing's perfect. The romance between Felix and that lieutenant was awkward and rushed at best, and a distraction at worst. It didn't make much sense for entire worlds to die if they were unplugged, though. I can only imagine how bad power outages must have been...

Spoiler:
Speaking as someone who has maintained arcade machines in the past, this is the stupidest plot thread I've ever seen in my life. I know, "kids movie/suspension of disbelief", but still. Consider all the times an arcade machine needs powering down/being moved, and the plot point falls apart. Are we to assume the machines were just generated in the arcade without ever being assembled at the factory, tested, unplugged, moved to the distributor, tested -again-, unplugged, moved to the arcade, plugged in, played, unplugged, moved to the back, ad nauseum et infinitum?

What is a comparational movie? What?

Also QUIT DOUBLE POSTING!

Also it just came out in theaters with a resounding success. It won't flop to DVD/Blu-Ray so soon

Also also Ralph is a character in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed, which is pretty fucking awesome if I say so myself.

I want to see this movie. I might head to the theaters tomorrow after work to see it depending on how much money I have.

I just got back from seeing it, and I loved it! Sure, some of the plot elements didn't make a lot of sense if you know a lot about the workings of arcade machines and such, but it still made for a fun story.

Spoiler:
I loved the credits sequence. The Sonic bit had me so giddy!

Easy way to explain away your ridiculous complaints.

Spoiler:
When they say unplugged, they mean never being plugged back in, because the game is retired. Obviously power outages and cabinets being moved wouldn't matter since they'd go back on the grid. Seriously, how was this a problem for you all? Pedantry at its finest.

I saw it today. That was a good movie.

Love it! I enjoyed looking around for little easter eggs.

I need to try to see it again before it leaves theaters.
