Finally got around to putting Gentoo on my (newly rebuilt) T60. It's forcing me to learn quite a bit I'd previously glossed over, but it's very nice so far. Had to build firefox to avoid the Other piece of potteringware, but at least it doesn't segfault on Pixiv like the Arch AUR's builds of ESR do.

- Windows 7 (Home Premium) SP1, x86 on Fujitsu tablet (old HDD still, solely for pen input)
- Windows 8.1, x86 on WinBook TW801 (for the few things I still need Windows for)
- Raspbian Wheezy on Raspberry Pi B+ (replaced Optiplex, does the job just fine)
- Android 7.0 on Honor 8 (main mobile device)
- Android 7.1.2 on Nexus 7 (LineageOS)
- Raspbian (feat. i3wm and Openbox+tint2) on Raspberry Pi 3 (secondary desktop)

I've converted to Linux, apparently.
Took me a decade, but here we are.
I miss Windows 8.1, honestly, but with the way Windows 10 has been going, uh. Might as well do what I did in 2012 with Windows XP->7 and just get the move over with.

You totally should

OS update:

Stillstorm: Mac OS X 10.13.2 / Windows 10
Ashrain: Mac OS X 10.4.11 / trying to put Linux on it too
Nova (2009 Acer laptop): Antergos Linux
Alex (Samsung Galaxy S5): Android Marshmallow

OSes I want to try on physical hardware include AmigaOS, BeOS/Haiku, IRIX, Mac OS classic, OpenVMS, OS/2/eComStation/ArcaOS, and SunOS/Solaris/OpenSolaris/OpenIndiana.

I haven't posted in a while, but my answer here is really boring. I'm running the latest MacOS and iOS.

But I also have a nifty Windows 3.11 VM that I use to play Castle of the Winds.

As a little update, the Windows 10 laptop was replaced in October with... another Windows 10 laptop which looks exactly the same.

Have you ever given WSUS a try? It lets you manage the distribution of updates instead of Redmond.

The Windows 10 Update thingy is so bad that these laptops had the Windows Update service automaticaally disabled.

This wasn't done with the previous laptops, but this soon would have changed.

To clarify, this connection speed isn't that great as is, so you can imagine what happened when many machines tried to download updates at once. I'll just say soon after instructions from the network admin were given on disabling Windows Update.

Main desktop running Win10, my two 'laptops' run also Win10. And the old PC rocks a Japanese Win95 installation.

But what is it with these Win10 Updates. On my laptops, I have to update about once every week, but my deskop, about once a month... how?

Which edition is the desktop running? I have Pro on my desktop, and it is currently set to defer updates in order to give MS a chance to work out any potential issues. I still receive Windows Defender updates on a daily basis, but all others tend to show up once every few weeks. The Home version does not have the ability to defer updates, and is always first in line to receive them once they're published.

It is indeed Windows 10 Pro. That explains a lot. Forgot about that ^^;;

- Windows 10 Fall Creators' Update (yes I like W10, fight me nerds) on a custom-built PC that desperately needs upgrades
- Windows XP Black Edition (YO HO FIDDLE DE DEE) on a 2003 Dell Dimension 4600
- iOS 11 on a refurbished iPhone 6s

Aaaaaaaaaaand that's about it. I mean, unless you count my VMs, which at the moment, currently are:

- Windows 98 SE with Plus!
- Windows XP SP2
- Windows XP Black Edition
- Windows 7 x64
- Ubuntu MATE
- Ubuntu 17.10
- Xubuntu 16.04
- Kubuntu 16.04
- Corel Linux (never could get this one to work, sadly)
- Haiku
- and the ArchiveTeam warrior.

Most of them I never use, but eh. Figure I'd list them anyway.

Haha, Windows XP Black Edition. I remember installing that when it was still relevant. Good times.
