Again, please do not harass the hack creator. Otherwise I will begin deleting any further posts which are basically...

"TELL ME HOW YOU DID IT AND HOW TO BEAT IT NOW! NOW! NOWWW!"

It's just rude.

Ok, so I'm having a little problem with this that maybe someone can help me out with.

I followed all the instructions in the readme file, made sure my default memory size is at 8MB, but when I open the rom the screen stays black and after about ten seconds the frame rate drops to about 8 FPS and nothing happens.

I tried downloading the patch from both links, and reinstalled PJ64 (v1.6), but this didn't solve the problem; has anyone else encountered this before, and if so, how did you fix it?

Thanks in advance
Mike

I wonder if Nintendo of europe caught wift of this, if they did, they must be pretty wordless right now, shocked, and almost blind to your work MarioGame2222.

I swear to you and anyone else here, nintendo should stop being so blinded by illegal rom hacking crap they started up when the nes came out and other nonsense with its co-partners.
I would like to see nintendo contact you one day for special training in gaming education and see you score a job.

For now, all I can it's breathless my man, I have never seen mario 64 be torn open and then rebuilt into a new hack in over 2 years or less.

Patch 0.8 is up: http://www.mediafire.com/?1288os92n3kadqv

This update patches the SMSR Camera Control code to the game, plus it fixes the music-stopping bug.

It's a good thing that you patched the Camera Control Code into the game. Now anybody who's using it on the Wii64 or a n64 backup device don't have to struggle against bad camera view.

Hey Celux, this is one of the best hacks I have ever played. There is one problem though, I play this game on Wii64 and when ever I get to the Whomp King Boss on level 2, the game freezes once the battle starts. Think you can fix that?

Not sure if I already asked this, but... I have a question:

Will you be releasing any (unknown) documentation you have about the inner workings of the SM64 ROM while creating this hack? What about some of the assembly hacks?

Sincerely, a very eager and fellow modder.

Once my SM64 hacking progress reaches snail speed, I will upload all of my documentation. At the moment, I update my documents so frequently that I would be re-uploading them constantly. Until I do upload them, I am happy to share information with anyone who asks about something specific.

To see a hack supported like this after release is astounding, not many people have this kind of dedication after they release their work. Great hack from what I've played in the past, and great work altogether keeping the game updated consistently.

Haven't played the updates, however how did you fix the music-stopping bug? I guess it happens because something is corrupted in memory after the load music routines were changed, so what was your workaround? This is the kind of the thing that the level importer should automatically patch in newer versions.

The bug turns off the master volume of the music sequence when you zoom out from look-around view. I created an assembly code which resets the master volume when you zoom out from the look-around view (also used for signs/npcs), and hooked it off Mario's behavior. Here's the code:

//START
ADDIU R29, R29, $FFE8
SW R31, $0014 (R29)

//END IF VOLUME IS ON FULL
LUI R17, $8022
LH R17, $2630 (R17)
ADDIU R18, R0, $3F0D
SUB R18, R17, R18
BGEZ R18, END

//END IF IN LOOK-AROUND VIEW
LUI R17, $8022
LB R17, $261A (R17)
ADDIU R18, R0, $0004
BEQ R17, R18, END

//RESET VOLUME
LUI R17, $8022
ORI R17, R17, $2630
LUI R18, $3F21
ORI R18, R18, $4285
SW R18, $0000 (R17)

//END
LW R31, $0014 (R29)
JR R31
ADDIU R29, R29, $0018

I'm not trying to tell the moderators what to do around here, but I think someone should sticky this and the Missing Stars. It's a great hack.

Opinions do not make Stickys around here. If say someone was to make a major rom hack including completely new features such as some of the things in Missing stars but even more detailed and complex then I'm sure it would get sticky, but not this, or missing stars.

Casis, don't bump old threads or something bad will happen (e.g. Metalman telling you off, worse than it sounds, trust me)

This cluster of completely unrelated chatter about what I do and don't allow is all very cute, but doesn't really have anything to do with this thread. Take it elsewhere or I'll just begin deleting it--that includes not replying to my post. I don't care if you're sorry or surprised, I just don't want any further clutter in this thread.

I've just updated the patch to 0.8.1. This is just a small change from 0.8 which stops Star Replicas appearing before you have collected 121 stars. I am working on a final patch which aims to fix all remaining issues, plus improve some graphical aspects of the game.
