Every now and then I somehow start posting... Be it for an active thread that interests me or hurr spam a failed spree just casuality, and then I get confused as to why am I even in the list.

But hey, this means I am discarding less posts, not that I am more active. Kinda ironic...

Lately I have pauses between more active periods.

Posting is kind of random for me.

Meanwhile, I spent all of yesterday looking at x86 assembly for interfacing with sound cards on the PC-9801 and compatibles.

I wonder if the YMF262 will make an acceptable substitute for the YM2608... (Anyone here familiar with Yamaha FM chips?)

Heh. I know enough to have the foggiest idea of what those chips are, but not enough to help you. I know only a smidgen of assembly related to Genesis stuff.

Good for making the levels go in reverse though!

If I ever got un-lazy though... I know x86 assembly. I could easily port my knowledge over and do more radical stuff in Genesis assembly.

I have no excuse on activity, I spend so much time on the board not posting.

Hm, are they really all that similar though? Though, honestly all I know assembly-wise is a little 6502 from my days of trying and failing at ROM hacking. I mean, both x86 and 68k are CISC I suppose...

Yes. They have slightly different letter combinations but while learning x86 I found I knew a lot of terms from having fooled around in 68k.

At least I learned the important thing--to be able to make and debug code, and access various pre-built functions.

I should fool with my old code again and try to get it to work sometime...

On-topic, I'd say something about having been wanting to mess around with PC-9801 stuff for a while, but I don't even know where to start.
Specifically with the FM sound, but... yeah.

I don't normally ban for offsite behavior but you're a whole level of terrible.

Aside from those days of mini-spreeing, things have been slow as of late.

Kinda sucks for me I don't think I'll hit 1000 on my 200th day at this rate.

Shyness, kawaiiness and blood. What anime is that again?

The first thing that came to my mind was Chibi VampireKarin.

You could hex edit REIMU.MDT in Touhou 1. It's probably easier than writing a music player from scratch, although it's not all that elegant.
